About Davis: Davis is the prototypical modern big man, a big, athletic 6-9 forward who can step out and stretch the floor, and who can play in a variety of different defensive schemes and coverages. He's an absolutely dominant interior defender, averaging 3.5 blocks per game in his high school career, and his ability to cover a ton of ground and contest shots at the rim makes it really, really difficult to try and attack Northwest inside the arc. His offensive game is still a work in progress, but he's a skilled passer out of both the low and high post areas, using his size to see over defenders, and when he touches it on the block he has a few go-to post moves that he can use to score with either hand. He has committed to play his college ball for Brad Underwood at Illinois.

Why he can win Mr. Basketball: Davis is the defensive anchor for a Northwest team that will open the year as the top-ranked team in Class 4A, meaning he'll have a real chance at capping his career with a state title. Anytime a player is committed to play their college ball at a program as big as Illinois, they're going to be on the radar of media throughout the state. The question for Davis is whether he'll be overshadowed by his teammate.
