Freshmen names to know.

Every year, a new crop of guys looking to make an impact and build a name for themselves on the high school scene emerges. Here are some guys who you may not already know that you should get on your radar. They have the potential to make an impact on the JV squads as role players or developing on the varsity squads for their high schools this season.    Jackson is a player with a diverse set of skills. He just needs to learn when to utilize each skill to improve his efficiency and decision-making. He has time to develop, and there is much to appreciate about his game. He has a score-first mentality and is proficient at making jump shots and finishing around the rim. Coming into his freshman season, he already has a year of varsity experience from playing as an 8th grader. This experience, along with his strong desire to excel, should provide him with an opportunity to showcase his skills and continue to improve, setting the stage for a successful freshman season.     Petit is a shooting guard who loves to do what he does best: shoot! He excels as a catch-and-shoot threat and as a floor spacer. If you give him space or drop your hand, he'll take the shot. You have to respect his range and stay close, which creates driving opportunities for his teammates. If Petit can develop a go-to move or defined action when driving, improve his playmaking, and add an in-between game as he progresses through his high school career, his growth potential could be tremendous.     Rose Jr. is a small guard starting his high school journey, with plenty of room to grow both physically and skill-wise. However, the skills and intangibles he brings to the table offer a solid foundation. He runs the floor well in transition, maintains spacing, crashes the corners for rebounds, and looks to advance the ball. He takes open shots, has a serviceable handle, and shows the ability to cut and make the next pass. He's very much a hockey assist kind of player.     Hensley begins his high school journey with solid height and build. He's a strong player who isn't afraid of contact. While he primarily plays shooting guard, he's capable of stepping into the small forward role or handling the ball when needed. He's a solid rebounder, finishes well around the rim, embraces defensive challenges, and is highly focused. As he continues to grow, Hensley has the potential to become a versatile, all-around player that coaches love to have on the court.     Barnes' natural position is a slashing, high-energy small forward. He is an energetic ballhawk with a knack for making plays. He rebounds well, is extremely athletic, and has one of the quickest second jumps in his class. He helps his team by securing extra possessions and consistently looks to attack the rim. Barnes is also a willing defender who excels in help defense, shooting gaps, anticipating plays, and creating deflections with his quick hands.
