2018 Carolinas Classic (NC vs SC All-Star Game)
The 2018 Carolinas’ Classic also known as the NC vs SC All-Star Game will be held at Hoggard High School in Wilmington this year on March 22-24. This will be the second weekend after the NCHSAA finishes up state championship weekend in Chapel Hill and Raleigh, North Carolina.
The Carolinas’ Classic was held last season in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Forty of the top North and South Carolina high school seniors will represent their school and state in the 20th Annual Carolinas All Star Basketball Classic. The top twenty players from each state that have not already made commitment to at least two other all-star games to participate. This event is always a high-scoring game that features the best of the best between the Carolinas’.
2017 all-stars include NC State’s Lavar Batts, VCU’s Tyler Maye, Clemson’s Clyde Trapp, South Carolina’s Jason Cudd, and Tariq Simmons of The Citadel. Past all-stars include UNC’s Isaiah Hicks, Kansas’s Devonte Graham, Clemson’s Devin Booker, Ohio State’s CJ Jackson, Clemson’s Gabe DeVoe, Alabama’s Tevin Mack, UNC’s Luke Maye, NC State’s CJ Bryce and UNC’s Brice Johnson.
For the first time since the tournament began 20 years ago, the athletes will participate in community service events, including a visit to the children’s hospital at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, hosting basketball clinics at the Brigade Boys & Girls Club and the Community Boys & Girls Club, and visiting two New Hanover County elementary schools, per press release.
