About Kole
Expert Analysis
Marcus Ebow | Prep Hoops Scout
Kole captured my attention early on at the South Finals and his stellar play continued in the championship game. A true floor general, Kole is a chest and eyes up ball handler with legit burst with the ball in his hands. In the championship game he continued to do what he does: apply pressure defensively, finish at the rim, make 3-point shots when taken, and run his team. Although his team came up short in the finale, Dortch had nothing to hang his head about. His effort and relentlessness were definitely evident in the championship game.

might be the most complete guard I’ve seen on the floor today. He is the total package. He’s quick, explosive, and possesses a high basketball IQ paired with a deep scoring bag. Dortch is a willing facilitator who makes a coach’s life easy by doing everything well on both ends of the court. A compact guard who instantly passes the eye test, he has “collegiate player” written all over him.

A gifted passer with an elite feel for the game, Dortch put on a clinic as a floor general. He displayed unbelievable vision and anticipation, reading the floor like a seasoned pro. No passing window was off limits, he hit cutters in stride, led teammates into scoring pockets, and routinely found weak-side shooters without even needing to square his shoulders. His ability to throw teammates open and manipulate defenses with his eyes and ball placement is what separates him as a next-level facilitator.

Dortch brought shifty, reactive handles that consistently threw defenders off balance. Whether it was with hesitation dribbles, misdirection, or sharp changes of pace, he created space at will and baited defenders into contact to earn free throws. As a passer, he showed natural, instinctual vision, reading the floor ahead of time and delivering passes with precision and timing. His touch and understanding of where his teammates needed the ball made him a reliable play initiator.
