South Dakota 2028 Rankings: New Names & Prospect Evaluations

Prep Hoops Dakotas is continuing to look at the South Dakota 2028 class. These prospects I have seen in the last couple of days, and wanted to give them a mention. Still more talent to talk about. Crazy depth in this class.    Kroll may be a little overshadowed and overlooked with Zak and Weber in the same 2028 class at Groton Area. But he's also one of the top upside guards in the class. He's easily a Top 50 prospect in the class, I just haven't placed him yet. He's got some lengthy arms for a young guard that he uses extremely well to be an opportunistic defensive playmaker. He can lockdown and defend with movement and long arms. He can jump and get up at a nice high-point, in which he uses to defend at the rim, or score with length off the drive and in transition. On top of all the qualities, he's a jump shot maker as well.     Trooien is with [program_tooltip program_id='2228190' first='TEAM' last='Warwick']'s second 15U team this offseason. He was a Big on O'Gorman's Freshman squad. Doesn't have elite height but has a solid build that he uses to move and absorb contact. He should be a factor going forward for O'Gorman, as a key interior piece.     Groton Area has a lot of talent to build upon, and Johnson will be a contributor to their success going forward. He's yet another 2028 Groton guard that would be best in class in most B and A schools. I need to see much more of Jace, but he's clearly a good athlete, and has skills and a jumper from three.     Flute is another late add to the watchlist after viewing more film on the 2028 class. He was a starter on Sisseton's varsity team as an interior presence and rebounder that could also space the floor from 3-point range. He doesn't have elite size, but his 3-point ability will help his chances in potentially becoming a next-level prospect if he has a halt in growth physically. He'll be with [program_tooltip program_id='2444909' first='Heiser' last='Skills Academy'] this Spring/Summer to gain some exposure and experience.     Hansen also started for Sisseton's varsity squad this season. I didn't notice any elite traits with Hansen, but I also didn't see many deficiencies or negatives with his profile. Adaquate positional length, ball-handling, shooting, and moves pretty well.     Witte is an active and versatile 6'3” forward. He is an inside/outside prospect that can compete on all areas of the court. Highly versatile prospect that plays with toughness and effort in the paint for positioning and the ball. On the perimeter he can shoot the three and defend at the line as well.     Prins will be added in the next update, but I wanted to give him a mention now. He's a quick and explosive guard, that is a low-to-the-ground, compact guard. In the JV game I saw, he started off the ball with Strande being the primary ball-handler.     Satter could easily be a stock-riser in the next update. I'm a big fan of his profile, with his standout length and athleticism for a young prospect. He was listed at 6'2” but he looks longer than that. Great movement and frame combination for a Freshman.     I've only heard good things about Olson, who lead the Clark/Willow Lake JV team from the point guard position. A 5'10” true point guard that plays the position to a tee. An uncanny feel for the position and how to operate with the ball and run an offense. Olson's IQ seems through the roof, and I wouldn't surprise me if a D3/NAIA program gave him an opportunity down the road. Just seems like a kid you want apart of your program, and he happens to be a rare true point guard with skills.     Boston is a prospect that we need to know in the 2028 class. A solid 2-guard with handling ability and can pop a three when given space. I think he'll be a factor for the O'Gorman varsity when his time comes.
