We recently updated our class of 2027 rankings, with a lot of new players taking what we often refer to as the “junior jump.” Things have shaken up quite a bit, with over 25 new names being added to the rankings.

Here's a look at part one of the new faces in the sophomore class rankings.

#31) [player_tooltip player_id='2815291' first='Justin' last='Huang'] | 6'3” CG | Blue Ridge

Huang is one of a number of Barons on this list, as the native of Taiwan came into the states and didn't miss a beat, fitting perfectly into their system and working his way into a bigger and bigger role for one of the best teams in the state. At 6'3” he has good positional size and is able to handle pressure well, he makes great decisions with the ball in his hands, he scores it efficiently when he needs to and he has a lot of moxy on both ends of the floor.

#32) [player_tooltip player_id='2788037' first='Kevin' last='Reyes'] | 6'0” PG | Stone Bridge

Reyes was perhaps the breakout player in Loudoun County this year, as the Stone Bridge lead guard stepped into the primary ball handler and go-to guy role with little to no problems at all. While he isn't the biggest guy Reyes is quick and shifty off the bounce to break down defenders, he scores it from all over and can create for himself and others and he's a big time competitor who loves going against the best.

#45) [player_tooltip player_id='2815353' first='Aidan' last='O'Connor'] | 6'2” SG | Loudoun Valley

O'Connor was another breakout player in Loudoun this year, earning All Region honors and emerging as the next big time guard for a program that has produced plenty in the last few years. At 6'2” he already has good size and is likely still growing, he is a sharp shooter from deep with range and the ability to hit shots on the move and he is a good secondary ball handler and creator as well.

#56) [player_tooltip player_id='2815299' first='Ashton' last='Cornett'] | 6'4” SG | Cave Spring

Cornett is another intriguing prospect who got on my radar, as the young wing had a great season for Cave Spring and is chock full of potential moving forward. He already has great positional size and is still growing (his older brother is 6'6”), he can knock down shots from deep and he's able to put it on the deck and make plays off the bounce too.

#58) [player_tooltip player_id='2815333' first='Baur' last='Lloyd'] | 6'2” SG | Blue Ridge

Lloyd is another guy who came into Blue Ridge and made a name for himself, as the Texas native carved out a great role for himself and became a productive piece for them throughout the year. The 6'2” off guard is a guy who can knock down shots from deep on kick-outs, he doesn't turn it over and makes the right play consistently and he has a gritty style as a defender who makes the hustle plays too.

#60) [player_tooltip player_id='2548309' first='Masyn' last='Miller'] | 6'3” SF | Heritage

Miller was another breakout player in the Loudoun County area this year, emerging as a talented shooter who impacts the game in a number of different ways. At 6'3” and likely still growing he has a good frame that should fill out well moving forward, he can drill it from deep, he gets to spots in the midrange and he's got a lot of upside moving forward as well.

#61) [player_tooltip player_id='2815386' first='Kelley' last='King Jr.'] | 5'10” PG | Great Bridge

King makes his debut in the rankings after coming into the season relatively unknown, and while the young Great Bridge squad struggled for much of the season he showed he's going to be one of the best guards in the 757 over the next few years. He was a Second Team All Region selection averaging 17 points per game and had three games of 30 points or more, he's a quick and shifty guard who is dynamite in transition, he shoots it well from deep off the catch and off the bounce and he showed great intangibles as a leader as just a sophomore.

#63) [player_tooltip player_id='2815376' first='Noah' last='Cannon'] | 6'2” CG | Nansemond-Suffolk

Cannon was an All TCIS selection as a sophomore, part of a young Nansemond-Suffolk core that should be one to watch moving forward. Cannon was impressive putting up numbers on a regular basis, as the big combo guard showed his ability to get downhill and finish through traffic, his great midrange game and often guarded the other team's best perimeter scorer too.

#64) [player_tooltip player_id='2815363' first='Devin' last='Johnson'] | 7'0” C | VA Academy

Johnson is very much a project, but it's not every day you come across a sophomore that is 7'0”, and that goes a long way in the sport of basketball. He's able to challenge and alter shots of drivers, he moves well for his size and can get up and down and he'll be an intriguing prospect to keep an eye on down the road.
