About Tariq

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

As a small forward, I’d describe my gameplay style as aggressive, versatile, and team-driven. I compete on every possession, whether it’s attacking the basket, locking down on defense, or creating plays for my teammates. I take pride in being a leader on the floor, bringing energy, communicating, and doing whatever it takes to help my team win.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’d say my mentality is built on hard work, leadership, and staying locked in. I try to set the tone with my effort and keep my teammates motivated, no matter what’s happening in the game. I stay positive, push myself to improve every day, and always do what it takes to help my team win.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I have received the freshman student of the marking period award.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’ve developed strong leadership and teamwork qualities through basketball and life experiences. I take pride in being someone my teammates can count on, whether it’s keeping the energy up, leading by example, or stepping up in big moments. I’ve learned how to stay composed under pressure, push others to be their best, and stay involved in my community off the court.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One challenge that stood out to me was my freshman year, when our varsity team made it to the state finals for the second year in a row but lost in overtime. It was tough seeing how much work we put in and still falling short, but that experience gave me the motivation to improve and become a stronger leader for this next upcoming season.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college that challenges me on and off the court, where I can keep growing as a player and a person. I want to be part of a program with a strong team culture, where hard work, leadership, and support for one another are valued. I’m drawn to coaches and teammates who push each other to be their best while I pursue both my academic and athletic goals.
