Mangassouba continues to expand his game and make strides as a perimeter shooter and that was on full display during East Side’s action against Northern Highlands and Ramapo Monday evening.

Mangassouba has the potential to have a breakout spring with his ability to impact the game at both ends. The 6’4 wing uses his handle to get to his spot on the floor and rarely gets sped up. Mangassouba can also score in the mid-range and can knock down jumpers from behind the arc. He has the length to defend multiple positions on the floor and is an underrated rebounder. Mangassouba is a lanky wing prospect who will impact the game at both ends of the floor throughout the course of the month.

Starring on the NJ Roadrunners 16U group, Omar Mangassouba Omar Mangassouba 6'4" | SF Newark East Side | 2027 State NJ is an aggressive slasher that relentlessly attacks the basket that has also taken strides as a jump shooter. More confident shooting the basketball and possessing more fluid mechanics from a year ago, Mangassouba has taken tremendous strides as a jump shooter. Combine that with his already natural knack to attack the basket, Mangassouba has showcased a more diverse offensive skillset over the course of his first couple tournaments this spring. Look for the sophomore guard to continue to build on the improvements he’s made in his game and have a strong spring and summer on the MADE Hoops circuit.

A super aggressive slasher, Omar Mangassouba Omar Mangassouba 6'4" | SF Newark East Side | 2027 State NJ excelled in the ways he was able to put pressure on the rim. Whether it was grabbing a rebound and pushing in transition or catching it off a ball reversal in the halfcourt, Mangassouba was assertive in attacking the basket. As the season went along, Mangassouba also showed the strides he took as a three point shooter, becoming more and more comfortable knocking down open catch and shoot threes from the perimeter.

Contrary to his typical downhill attacking aggression, Omar Mangassouba Omar Mangassouba 6'4" | SF Newark East Side | 2027 State NJ was electric from three point range in Newark East Side’s victory over Weequahic. Knocking down a total of 5 threes on the night, Mangassouba showcased his continuing improvement as a perimeter shooter. Mangassouba finished the game with 19 points.
