<p>The New Jersey Basketball Coaches Association tipped off the 2024-2025 season with an opening showcase at Montgomery High School on Saturday, December 14th with matchups that included some of the better programs in the state of New Jersey as well as some teams looking to making a statement this season. Let's take a look at some guys at the guard position that stood out during opening weekend.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Finishing with a game high 26 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 assists in Manasquan's win over Rutgers Prep, [player_tooltip player_id='2202014' first='Rey' last='Weinseimer']'s impact was felt all over this game. Weinseimer showcased a lot of his perimeter ability, knocking down multiple three pointers, including a big one off the dribble in OT. Weinseimer also did a good job being able to secure possessions for his squad on the glass and rebound the basketball well at his position as well as facilitate the basketball and find his open teammates. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">A 13 point performance that saw [player_tooltip player_id='2202018' first='Rocco' last='Loomis'] score all his points from behind the three point line, Loomis' impact was almost entirely felt from the perimeter. Knocking down 4 three pointers, Loomis showcased his smooth shooting touch and fluid mechanics and converted on a lot of open looks from three, showing why he's a threat from three point range that defenses must respect.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Knocking down 3 open three points for the Rams offense, Chase Deutsch showcased not only his perimeter ability but his ability to be effective off the ball in Hightstown's defeat versus Seton Hall Prep. Deutsch was also able to be pesky on the defensive end, getting his hands on a lot of passes and force 4 turnovers.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Finishing with 16 points to lead all scorers, [player_tooltip player_id='2504946' first='Primo' last='Delgado'] got going vs Hightstown by knocking down a few threes from behind the three point line as well as create offense by getting into the paint. Converting on a lot of his paint touches, with the help of his strong frame, Delgado was able to finish at the basket as well turn a lot of those paint touches into free throw line opportunities. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='2201947' first='Anthony' last='Gonzalez'] made a tremendous impact on the defensive end of the floor for Seton Hall Prep in the victory over Hightstown. Effectively utilizing his length and his active hands in combination with his ability to play with good anticipation, Gonzalez was able to get his hands on multiple passes as well disrupt the ball handler on numerous occasions. Gonzalez also did a good job of finding ways to be effective without the ball; being active on the glass as well as being a willing passer and making the extra pass. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Showcasing a variety of ways in which he's able to score the basketball, [player_tooltip player_id='1790209' first='Ethan' last='Lin'] was able to make shots at multiple levels. From the perimeter, Lin was able to convert on catch and shoot opportunities as well as see one go in off the dribble. Taking advantage of aggressive closeouts and defenders respecting his ability to shoot it from deep, Lin was also able to convert some opportunities at the rim and finish around the basket.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='1411409' first='Omari' last='Moore'] was able to get going from three as he saw multiple looks fall for him, mostly converting off catch and shoot opportunities, showcasing his ability to be effective off the ball. Moore was also effective in attacking the basket and being able to finish around the rim; whether it was getting in the paint off dribble drives or pushing in transition. </p>
