Expert Analysis
Miles Masercola | Prep Hoops Scout
Whitsett is a smooth and confident guard with legit length that allows him to elevate past defenders when attacking the rim. Whitsett has evolved from more of a wing in his earlier HS career to a real on ball guy that can only be considered a point guard. For this Wesleyan team he’s asked to engineer a lot of their offense in both transition and the half court. He’s able to use his gifts in the open floor to put a lot of pressure on the opposition. He’s vastly improved as a jump shooter and really only takes quality looks from the perimeter. Whitsett is a real gem of a name in this 2028 class in North Carolina that is proving to be one of the strongest classes for a single state we have in the country regardless of class right now.

Whitsett has been a leader on the Grimsley High varsity stage this season as he makes his debut at 13th overall and fourth at the SF position. He’s averaging 13.6 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists per contest while shooting 34 percent from deep in his debut varsity season. He’s shown he can handle the ball and create in space at 6-foot-3 also giving him some versatility to operate at the guard spot on the wing as well. He’s one to keep an eye on in the 2028 rankings.

Whitsett is a versatile prospect to get to know in the 336 area with Grimsley High. He’s stepped up in a big way with the Whirlies to show off his ability to create off the bounce and off the catch as a scoring threat. He’s also shown he can make an impact as a defender given his length and budding athleticism. Given his ability to score at will already, he’s one to track early in the 2028 class.
