Tryouts are under three weeks away, meaning the high school basketball season is right around the corner. The 2027 class might have only played one season of varsity basketball, but they are primed to make an impact on the hardwood in year two. Here are the 2027 Group 1 prospects to track.

[player_tooltip player_id='2621646' first='Tyler' last='Caban'], 5'11 CG Hopatcong

Caban is fresh off a strong showing at the Prep Hoops 250 Expo and is looking to bring that over into his sophomore season. The 5'11 guard knows how to get to his spot on the floor and finishes nicely around the basket. Caban can also score in the mid-range and sets his feet before he shoots. He has the ability to play off the ball and slides his feet on defense. Caban will receive more touches on the offensive end, which will help his development over the course of the season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2347281' first='Nairi' last='Latham'], 6'1 CG Marion P. Thomas Charter

Latham poured in over 500 points in his freshman season and is looking to duplicate the feat in 2024-25. The 6'1 guard has a smooth release on his jumper and can knock down triples in bunches. Latham moves well without the ball in his hands, freeing himself for easy jumpers and layups in the halfcourt. He is an underrated passer and uses his instincts to get deflections on defense. Latham is a sharpshooting guard prospect who will be one to track throughout the course of the season.

Jhkai Singletary, 6'4 SF Paterson Charter

Singletary is a prospect to track this season as he should receive more touches on the offensive end. The 6'4 wing explodes off the floor for dunks and is able to draw contact in the paint. Singletary uses his size to see over his defender and has an underrated handle. He skies for rebounds on both ends of the floor and has the length to defend multiple positions on the floor. Singletary is a lanky wing prospect whose ability to make plays at both ends of the floor will help stock in a big way.

[player_tooltip player_id='2621638' first='John' last='Kelly'], 5'11 CG South Amboy

Kelly had a solid debut season as he poured in nearly 300 points. The 5'11 guard has a good first step, which he uses to get to the rim off the bounce and finish around the basket. Kelly has a nice touch on his floater and doesn't mind drawing contact in the paint. He works for rebounds on both ends of the floor and slides his feet on the defensive end. Kelly is a hardworking guard prospect who will be pacing South Amboy's offense this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2432045' first='Adam' last='Reilly'], 6'3 PF Hawthorne

Reilly will be one to track this season as he should get more touches on the offensive end. The 6'3 forward uses his strong frame to get position down low and has a nice touch around the basket. Reilly sets strong screens in the halfcourt and rolls hard to the rim. He fights for rebounds on both ends of the floor and holds his ground on the defensive end. Reilly is a physical forward prospect who will be looking to make an impact down low during the 2024-25 season.
