About Kale

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

This season I have taken more of a leadership role as an upperclassman. I am showing that I'm an elite defender who can be a first scoring option with a knockdown 3 while still setting my teammates up for great looks as a PG. I am a very quick and fast paced player who enjoys pushing the ball and getting transition looks. I thrive in the mid range to the three point. I can finish with contact.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m almost always going to be the shortest player. So I make sure I put in more work than others. I try to make sure I am one step ahead. I do the things on and off the court to excel. I like to push my teammates to get extra reps with me. I constantly watch tape on other players and never stop watching film on opponents. When I was sidelined that was all I did was watch film and analyze players.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

FCCLA and Volunteer for school and community related needs whenever available. I enjoy helping build things and figuring out what the community would need help with.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’ve learned teamwork, leadership, and grit. The biggest thing I have learned is how to work hard through hard times and against the odds. I learned how to be a great teammate while not being able to play. I have also learned how to make an impact on things outside of basketball. Basketball has made me a better person overall.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I had missed a whole season due to a genetic injury. I bounced back after the season in AAU and played better than before. I am 100% back and ready to go and have been playing amazing. This is the reason due to my lack of varsity stats with my time at Bonneville. I also have had challenges with being noticed by coaches and scouts due to my lack of height. But I make up for this with my work ethic.

What type of college are you looking for?

Any college willing to give me a shot. I would like to major in Marketing or Business. I enjoy Film and Production too. I am keeping my options open for anything and am willing to change up my major depending on the school.

Chowning had a great high school season and looks to keep that rolling as he steps into June, looking to make some noise. He is a PG that can defend the length of the floor, and he also finds ways to get on the board. Last season, he averaged over 15 PPG. Chowning converted on 62 made three-pointers this past season, and he had some games where he was rebounding the ball with a purpose outside of his zone. With good vision, he is always a threat with the ball. Chowning is a next-level guard looking to bolster his stock this June.
