About DaVonne

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I thrive on intelligence, cohesion, and precision execution. My success is driven less by raw athleticism and more by consistently making the right decisions, talking through every possession, and maintaining a high level of mental focus. Looking to play mistake-free, unselfish basketball that forces opponents to stay disciplined for a full 32 minutes.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Until the clock hits zero, the job’s not done. I approach every game with the mentality that we’re competing to win every single possession, because that’s how games are won.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I’m an active member of the Above the Influence club at my school and am honored to have the opportunity to present at the Above the Influence Summit in Spring 2025. Our mission is to reach as many students as possible, promoting the importance of caring for both our minds and bodies, while educating our peers about the long-term consequences of substance abuse and encouraging healthier choices.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

On the court, I lead by example, promote team unity, and stay composed under pressure. Through the Above the Influence club, I’ve strengthened my ability to educate and inspire others, focusing on mental and physical well-being while raising awareness about the risks of substance abuse. Both roles have helped me grow as a responsible, empathetic leader on my team and in my school community.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Being raised by a teen mother and having a father who struggled with mental illness presented significant challenges throughout my early life. My mom taught me early on that we are not defined by statistics. Rather than allowing my circumstances to define me, I have used them as motivation to lead by example, pursue opportunities, and support others facing adversity.

What type of college are you looking for?

A college where I can grow as a student and an athlete. I want a competitive basketball program that values team culture, discipline, and development, while maintaining a strong academic environment that will prepare me for life after basketball. I am looking for a coaching staff that emphasizes communication, trust, and leadership, where I can contribute to something bigger than myself.
