Defenders were constantly on edge, as he was always ready to attack and penetrate the heart of the defense at a moment's notice. Flemings also had several stretches where he took over games, especially when his team was down. On the defensive end, he was a menace, wreaking havoc with incredible blocks and steals. He displayed a strong, sturdy frame that allowed him to body up and absorb contact without being easily moved. His physicality made him especially tough to beat in one-on-one situations, particularly against smaller wings or guards who favored dribbling or driving. Shyne's exceptional lateral movement enabled him to stay in front of the quickest guards on the court, applying relentless ball pressure the full length of the floor. He consistently got into the ball handler's space, making it difficult for his opponents to comfortably initiate their offense.</p>
