Jasi Abel
About Jasi
Expert Analysis
Robbie Hodin | Prep Hoops Scout
Abel is a super intriguing prospect because of his combination of length and shooting ability. Like Devine, I expect Abel to continue growing and getting longer as he gets older—he has the look of a developing young player. But the shooting stroke is very pretty, and he gets it off quite cleanly on the move and on the dribble. His athleticism shows on the defensive end, too, with some nice chase down blocks and rim protection. Abel is playing at a high level at Notre Dame-West Haven, and that’ll help his development down the road.

Abel, a lead guard out of Notre Dame High School – West Haven, checks in at #116 overall and #12 among the point guards. Abel is a heady ball-handler that plays with another gear in transition and shows the ability to knock down shots at multiple levels. He changes speeds and directions off the bounce, can finish in a variety of ways around the rim, and does a nice job of finding teammates in scoring spots off of his drives. Defensively, he makes plays on the ball and in passing lanes that lead to easy steals and transition scoring opportunities.
