Standouts at Ugland Skills Summit

The Ugland Skills Summit, held on Sunday, August 18 at Beckman High School in Tustin, California, was a tremendous showcase of talent, featuring 82 players from various levels. The event offered a comprehensive evaluation of each participant through dedicated skill development sessions, one-on-one workouts, and competitive 5-on-5 games.    James is a tremendous athlete in the open court, showcasing powerful and creative above-the-rim finishing ability. He can effectively create for himself and others off the dribble, and is a capable 3-point shooter both off the catch and the dribble. Williams also possesses a solid midrange game, good touch around the basket, and combines his strong build with good lateral quickness to be a versatile offensive and defensive contributor.     Rocco is a quick guard with a good first step, making him a tough cover for defenders. He's a knockdown 3-point shooter, especially in catch-and-shoot situations, and is also capable of hitting 3-pointers off the dribble. Gaffoglio's smooth midrange jumper and good passing vision add variety to his well-rounded offensive game.     Van is an impressive incoming freshman, arguably the most impressive at the event, with a smooth 3-point shooting stroke off both the catch and the dribble. He's also effective from the midrange area and shows promising playmaking abilities with good vision. Van is definitely one to watch closely as he continues to develop.     Acen is a confident playmaker who stands out for his strong and decisive attacks on the basket, finishing effectively with either hand. He has good vision, is a capable 3-point shooter, and displays quickness and good footwork.     Noa uses his solid size and length to contribute on the glass and effectively control the pace of the game. He's a confident playmaker with good touch around the basket, excellent footwork, and a strong handle that helps him create separation. Edwards is also a good passer with a solid understanding of angles, allowing him to take advantage of defenders.     Ty is a dynamic playmaker and scorer who darts around the court with quickness, decisiveness, and confidence. He sees the entire floor, has good footwork, and finishes effectively at the basket with either hand. Ingram is a good athlete who scores well from all three levels and has the vision to make incisive passes.     Lamar is an intriguing prospect with great athleticism and physical tools, allowing him a playmaker on both ends of the floor. His developing handle and ball skills, along with a strong rebounding motor, show promising signs as he continues to improve and make a more consistent impact on games.     Denis showcases crafty footwork and a strong touch around the basket, allowing him to finish effectively with either hand. His creative finishing vocabulary and ability to score from all three levels make him a versatile offensive threat, while his playmaking skills and decent passing further enhance his impact on the court.     Jordan possesses good size and strength, coupled with a strong rebounding motor at both ends of the floor. He shows a solid touch around the basket and is developing his handle to create separation on the perimeter. Additionally, Ballard has the ability to shoot the three both off the catch and the dribble, adding versatility to his offensive game.     Jacob showcases great mobility on both ends of the floor, making him an effective rim runner in high-paced games and a strong defensive presence by rotating well and consistently blocking shots. His developing ability to put the ball on the floor, combined with a relentless rebounding motor, allows him to end defensive possessions and create extra opportunities on offense.     Hudson possesses a strong build and lower body that enhances his defensive versatility and allows him to attack the basket with power. He finishes above the rim with force but can also show finesse, finishing effectively at the basket with either hand. His athleticism and good handle enable him to create separation, adjust in mid-air for effective mid-range scoring, and contribute on the glass.
