About Matthew

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a team player who sees the court well and can run an offense. I make good decisions with the ball. To that end, I am unselfish with the ball, but I can go get a bucket. When the ball is in my hands, good things happen. I have a consistent 3- ball and I play smart / hard on defense.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m a hard worker and focused. I believe in commitment and consistency to achieve my goals. I am a gamer, a huge sports fan, and a Louisiana foodie. I was born in Cincinnati, but Louisiana has been my home for the past 5 years. I am also huge on loyalty, family, and community.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am a school team spirit leader and an honor roll student.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I play point guard and shooting guard for my school, and I am the team captain. I also train underclassmen, male and female basketball student athletes within my community.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yes, at the age of 12 my parents relocated from Cincinnati to Louisiana. I was forced to leave the only friends I had since I was born. It was tough, but I eventually made new friends and embraced a new culture. This helped shape me into the person I am today.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking to attend a college that will allow me to pursue my dreams of playing basketball at the professional level. I am pursuing a degree in business and management.
