About Luke

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

My gameplay style stands out. I am a team player and I enjoy my teammates as friends and players. I am coachable. I am a hard worker and I plow through to get the job done. I have hustle and passion for the game. I keep trying something over and over until I get it. For example, I started trying to dunk in 6th grade, got it in 7th & started dunking in games in 8th grade. I'm fast and think smart.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have always been a rugged and outdoors kind of person. I have focus and passion for things that I enjoy . I can be stubborn when I want to succeed at something. I am a leader and get along easily with all kinds of people. Movement makes me happy. I enjoy adventurous activities and take risks to grow. My mentality is that with God "I can do all things". I put in the work to make that happen.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

KRES Slovenian Folkdance group, St. Vitus church & Slovenian school Geauga Youth Missions, Basketball, Track (high jump, hurdles, relays). Awards that I have received: Upstander (given to someone who stands up for others), in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. Art recognition in 8th grade. MVP: Goran Dragic bball camp in Slovenia. 1st and 2nd honors. Sponsored skateboarder, many skate competition wins.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I am prolific with community service. This summer (2024) I helped younger children in basketball camp, I spent a full week in PA building wheelchair ramps for those in need with Geauga Youth Missions and I spent a week servicing the grounds/campers at Slovenska Pristava. Leader in school: Upstander awards. I support my African American friends against racism through Kenston Families United.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I lived in an orphanage in Russia until I was adopted at 11 months. I have to work extra hard at school because I have some vision issues which sometimes make things 'move" on the page when I read or do math and I had to go to vision therapy since 3rd grade. I broke my hand trying to dunk in 6th grade, broke my finger in 7th, and in 8th fractured my ankle in basketball when someone dove on me.

What type of college are you looking for?

Somewhere where I can feel a part of the team, where I will get playing time, and most importantly where I will get the help I need to do well academically and that will be good for my major. I care a lot about the people and the relationships with the coaches are important to me. I want to do my best and also be respected as a person not just as a player, though playing is very important to me.
