About Cole

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Play with a high IQ with a defensive emphasis. Can defend on and off ball both in the post or perimeter with good timing for shot blocking. Offensively, strong at finishing around the rim but also am a consistent jump shooter, especially on the catch and shoot, and getting out in transition.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

While highly competitive, I have a balanced perspective on the court. I always stay positive and work extremely hard. I believe I play with a high IQ and understand not only what I am supposed to do but my teammates as well.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

As far as basketball, I play for two travel teams, Rice Basketball Academy and Great Lakes Basketball. I am in involved with a cultural group that promotes my families heritage, as well as volunteering for multiple youth groups within our community.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed the ability to lead not just with voice but by example, whether it's on the court during games or practice or being the first one in the gym and last one to leave. Being a part of team has taught me that I, as well as those around me, are stronger as a team or group than we are as individuals.

What type of college are you looking for?

My desire is play collegiate basketball at school that provides me a high academic opportunity and challenges in the field and profession I want to pursue. As much as basketball is a priority and my passion, I recognize my academics are very important and I want to prepare myself for life away from the court.

I really liked what I saw from Gast as a player I came in very unfamiliar with. Gast clearly knew how to play as he was in the right spots as a help-side defender, found holes in the defense to make himself available and was in the right spots to position himself for offensive rebounds. Combine those skills with a couple pick and pop 3-pointers and Gast was clearly one of the most productive new names at the showcase.
