Preseason Player of the Year: 2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1484418' first='Mason' last='Bechen'] (North Linn)

No disrespect to the other talented players in this division, but Bechen is one of the easiest selections for this honor of any conference in the state. He's the most dynamic player in 1A basketball.

The best player in 1A basketball will be looking to lead the Lynx to a repeat as state champs. He's athletic, tough, quick, extremely skilled, and one of the best competitors in the state.

2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1759950' first='Matthew' last='Klostermann'] (Central City): 17.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 2.2 steals

A quick, athletic guard who likes to use his speed to attack the rim and get the defense to collapse, Klostermann had an impressive junior year for the Wildcats, leading the team in scoring, assists, and steals, and ranking second in rebounding.

2025 [player_tooltip player_id='2397976' first='Matthew' last='Neighbor'] (Alburnett): 14.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.4 steals, 1.3 blocks, 66.2 FG%

A 6-3 forward, Neighbor had a breakout junior year for the Pirates on both ends of the floor, emerging as a highly efficient and reliable interior scoring option, a really good rebounder, and a skilled, versatile defender. He'll be the senior leader for Alburnett this season.

2025 Pryce Rochford (Edgewood-Colesburg): 14.2 points, 8.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 3.7 steals

Rochford was asked to do a ton for the Vikings as a junior, and he shined in the role, leading the team in every major category. He's an athletic, physical forward who pounds the glass hard on both ends of the floor, and he has great hands on the defensive end.

2025 [player_tooltip player_id='2440642' first='Connor' last='Williams'] (Springville): 10.1 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.8 steals, 2.5 blocks

Three Orioles were in consideration for this final spot on the first team, but Williams gets the nod due to his presence on the defensive end of the floor, controlling the painted area defensively as one of the division's top rim protectors. Springville should be among the most improved teams in 1A, and Williams is one of the primary reasons why.
