About Semaj
Expert Analysis
Britt Wright | Prep Hoops Scout
He’s having a productive season starting or coming off the bench. At 6’4 he’s strong with a solid body he’s still learning how to use to his advantage. He’s been aggressive in the paint going up strong off two feet, working for rebounds, and put back points, he’s finding ways to score in the paint. He’s giving good effort on the defensive side of the ball.

The 6-foot-5 wing/forward has a solid frame, is active on the boards, a versatile defender, and is tough to defend in the paint or the open court. Bluford asserted himself early in the Championship Game against Clovis North and would go for 11 points in the loss. Bluford has good handles, uses the crossover and hesitation to attack off the bounce, has a nice burst off speed off the dribble, and can absorb and score through contact when driving down the lane at the basket. Bluford crashes the boards, gets second chance scoring opportunities with putbacks, outlets the ball off the defensive glass, and excels in the open court where he can play to his strengths. Bluford moves well off the ball, uses back cuts and dives to the basket off the pick and roll action to get open for easy catch and score opportunities at the rim, and can seal his defender off to receive entry passes and attack the basket. Versatile defender that can guard on the perimeter, as well as hold up well against taller players in the post with his physical frame.

He continues to develop his skill set away from the basket. He’s a solid body who has the tools to guard bigger players in the post, he can move and stay in front on the perimeter. He’ll drive if there’s an opening, he’s moving the ball finding cutters, feeding the post, he’ll take the open shot.

A strong and growing body, with an improving skill set. It looks like he can operate from around 15ft out. We saw solid dribble drives to get closer for paint jumpers, and layups. He’s got the body and strength to get a bucket inside. He has an improving skill set. When he learns how to use his body, his numbers will go up.

Buford’s already fitted with a solid body, good movements. He does well running and filling lanes in transition. He’ll be an extra body who can step in and help defend the post, and work the boards right away. He’ll take it up strong inside. He’ll take care of the ball, not force things, make good passes.
