June 6th-8th I attended the 17th annual Best in Basketball Summer Invitational at Mesquite HS in Gilbert/AZ. There were 24 teams playing in five showcase type of games over the three days.

Here is the All-Tournament 8th Team:

[player_tooltip player_id='1986797' first='Jase' last='Benjamin'] San Tan Charter (Pictured)

A versatile wing forward who does many little things for the star small school team. He makes plays, defends multiple positions, rebounds and had a literal poster dunk on the break. He is the ultimate glue guy for the Roadrunners.

[player_tooltip player_id='2457863' first='Christian' last='Dubrey'] Paradise Honors

A newcomer for me on the website but I have seen him a little before in the past. He is a combo guard with some size who can play on the ball and handles it well and will make passes with either hand. He will score on put backs, catch threes, blow by's and has a long wingspan to collect steals. He should have a breakout year.

[player_tooltip player_id='1938362' first='Jamison' last='Fox'] Arcadia

He missed a ton of hoops and is slowly coming back and is on a game restriction at this point but is trying to push thru and get up to speed. He is an efficient scorer around the rim and will score off of offensive rebound put backs with good hands and goes up quickly. He can step out to the three and he is light on his toes from end to end. He will challenge oncoming players to alter or block their shots. He will get better and better moving forward.

[player_tooltip player_id='1950100' first='London' last='Haskell'] Mesa

A long lefty power forward has some size and athleticism. He scores it with alley-oops using his vertical pop and good hands. He is a glass cleaner and will chase the ball out of his area. He will block shots, run the floor, set a pick and brings size and energy to the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='1679274' first='Crew' last='Jorde'] Mesquite

A pure point guard is one of their many talented guards in the program. He will use a burst to get into the lane and score with the floater game or kick it to a shooter. He has the deep three and can rattle them off plus quick hands to defend on the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='1938807' first='Makenzie' last='Lazor'] Casteel

A fluid power forward can defend and score. He moves well without the ball and will get on the glass and rebound and score on put backs. He has nice skill and will shoot the mid-range jumper and brings some size to the team.

[player_tooltip player_id='1306055' first='Jibril' last='Mcdonald'] Bella Vista Prep

A long and taller wing forward. He is very fluid and athletic. He can dunk it easily on the break above the rim and the lefty can euro down the lane, hit the catch three and is very quick in the passing lanes using his wingspan.

[player_tooltip player_id='2457882' first='Gage' last='McDowell'] Campo Verde

A skilled high motored wing forward is a little undersized but does many little things for them. He can pull-up from mid-range, drive the lane, score in the paint with his toughness, he will step back with the Dirk move off of one leg and his on-ball defense is tough.

[player_tooltip player_id='1571924' first='Sir' last='Myles'] Casteel

A transfer from AZ Compass Prep will help the Colts immediately on both sides of the ball. He is a very good on-ball defender using his lateral quickness, athleticism and stronger upper body. He also handles the ball well giving them a natural ball handler and someone who can lead the team. He can score getting downhill and shoot the three.

[player_tooltip player_id='2280210' first='Joshua' last='Stewart'] Mesa

A highly skilled combo guard plays at his own pace. He can get downhill after he hesitates and will get to basket. He will pull-up from mid-range, hit the catch three and his floater game is very polished.
