Last weekend's Jayhawk Jam allowed us to get an updated look at some players we've followed in the past or wanted to know better.

Here are some Kansans who impressed in the 17U category at the Jayhawk Jam (in alphabetical order):

Jerrick Chenhall, 5-foot-7 guard, 2025, McClouth, Livin' the Dream:

Chenhall is a competent point guard, but he likes to play on the wing, moving without the ball, hunting shots. He can create with the dribble with his quickness and ability to get an edge on a defender. He's a tough, feisty player on both ends and really hustles on defense.

[player_tooltip player_id='2423295' first='Evan' last='Dejmal'], 6-foot-5 center, 2025, St. James Academy, Kruse Elite Gold:

One of the most impressive big men at the Jayhawk Jam, Dejmal showed what he can do against good competition. He was a workhorse, battling for every rebound and contesting drivers and posts. He's a big guy with a mature build. He's not just limited to the low block on offense. Dejmal floated on the perimeter and found open shots that he showed he can knock down.

[player_tooltip player_id='2415954' first='Aaron' last='Henderson'], 6-foot-5 center, 2025, Goddard, CM3T Guardians:

Henderson is a big man. He is a real matchup problem because he can just overwhelm so many posts with his size. But Henderson is not an unskilled big. He has nice smooth footwork and doesn't ever seem out of control. He has soft hands and finishes well.

[player_tooltip player_id='2416776' first='Austin' last='Rietsma'], 6-foot-7 center, 2025, Lakin, Magic Basketball Blue:

A guy with a ton of length, Rietsma is a factor every time an opponent tries to drive the lane. He moves well in traffic to get position and his elevation and long arms make him a natural shot blocker. He moves to get open for deliveries in the paint or floats out to the perimeter to catch and shoot. He has light feet and can really run for a big man.

[player_tooltip player_id='1588398' first='Cam' last='Schmidt'], 6-foot-2 forward, 2025, Newton, CM3T Guardians:

A skilled forward, Schmidt has good size and a mature game. He can help in the backcourt, float on the perimeter, or slash into the lane to catch and shoot or pass. He can hit shots from deep, so defenses have to accommodate. That leaves opportunities for him to put the ball on the floor, or slash without the ball. He's a handsy, physical and smart defender.
