The Top 250 Expo saw a great deal of talent, but these seven upperclassmen did their best to send a message. One that says that they can command attention when on the floor. This group could score in every way you'd want. Check out the top 2018 & 19 slashers and finishers from the Top 250. Niven Glover: The Villages School Glover’s was easily one of the best at creating his own shot. He can create space off the dribble, especially around the midrange/wing area. The jumper is smooth. I liked how aggressive he is when penetrating, he’s looking to either slam it, or draw contact for the foul. I’ll admit that he should be a bit more aware of when it’s a time share the rock. But at the same time, you’d want this junior to have the ball in his hands if you need scoring. Wilvens Fleurizard: Coral Springs High School From the very start, energy! Wilvens doesn't settle for a play. Loved his attack game, but also how well he shields himself when elevating to the bucket. The senior can twist his frame to put him in position for the best-angle on a layup. Other times, he’ll just dunk it home, but isn't scared to meet people at the rim. Being left-handed myself, I appreciate the 6’3” Fleurizard knowing how to use his on the floor. Mayoum Mayoum: DME Sports Academy “Double M” ran the floor hard from start to finish. He’s a guy that wants to be involved in the play—so he sprints past hafl-court. If others take the shot, he boxes out, follows the rebounds of his teammates. Mayoum can finish with contact draped on him. He doesn't shy away from defense. It’ll be interesting to see what’s next for him at the post-grad level, this season. Princezion Collins: West Orange High School One of the biggest things that stood out about Zion was his to-the-paint passing. He can zip it to a big in the post with ease. If he has the rock, and he’s driving the lane, this senior can step up and take hits. Another guy who sprints the floor. He posted a few blocks, as well. Owen Mixon: Carrollwood Day School Believe it or not, Mixon was the only upperclassman present that was taller than 6’4”. The only other two were post-grad. But, he played big—Mixon has a solid post presence. He outlets the ball really well and can cut to the basket, quick! Really fundamentally sound. The senior has a hook shot that’s hard to contest. Although, if he does miss it, Mixon proved he's nice at putbacks. Andy Jean-Baptiste: Northeast High School This junior is another gifted guard who will hit the midrange jumper and three-ball if you leave him free. You have to keep him in sight, has a quick release. Andy’s solid with the dribble-penetration. His defenders try to close him in, Andy can launch the floater and bring it home. Floyd Rideau Jr.: Holy Trinity Episcopal Rideau is a lean 6’3” guard, long-armed, and can knock down threes from off-the-dribble. I liked how controlled he is when heading towards the rim. The junior can stop on a dime and get a shot off from five-to-seven feet. Had a great sense of poise about him. I love the energy.
