For various reasons surefire D-2 prospects get overlooked each recruiting cycle. Below are some players that certainly will wind up at the Division II level despite their uneven interest.
2024 PF Jackson Ary Jackson Ary 6'8" | PF Bradley Central | 2024 State TN (Bradley Central) –
The Class of 2024 forward Jackson is not hidden to the state of Tennessee programs, but his reputation deserves elevation throughout the Midwest and Florida/Georgia. He is coming off an official visit to Tusculum University.
2024 PF Da’Ron Hall Da’Ron Hall 6'7" | PF Cane Ridge | 2024 State TN (Cane Ridge) –
The 6-foot-7 forward rebounded at an elite level throughout his career. His shooting touch is pretty strong beyond 12′, but the Ravens did not really find ways to benefit from that aspect of his game. Hall is a natural shot-blocker. Perhaps limiting his college recruitment is his thin, though wiry body.
2024 PG/SG Antonio Ward Antonio Ward 6'2" | PG Rockvale | 2024 State TN (Rockvale) –
Former PrepHoopsTN Combine MVP Antonio Ward Antonio Ward 6'2" | PG Rockvale | 2024 State TN wrapped his high school career with Rockvale with little college attention. The guy plays harder than anyone with a college-ready body and impressive first-step quickness. He might not start Day One at a D2 program, but Ward is a dynamic guard with the height, toughness, and mindset to ascend in the sport.
2024 SF Maddux Routh Maddux Routh 6'5" | SF C.P.A. | 2024 State TN (C.P.A.) –
Versatile forward, Maddux Routh Maddux Routh 6'5" | SF C.P.A. | 2024 State TN can play three positions at the D2 level, probably settling in best at the “3”. Improved athleticism in the last year helps him.

Signed?
Griffin Cooper Griffin Cooper 6'8" | PF Columbia Academy | 2024 State TN and Cole McCormick Cole McCormick 6'5" | SF Notre Dame | 2024 State TN signed to University of Alabama Huntsville. Surely, they imagined that to be the end of their college recruitment. However, UAH Head Coach John Shulman accepted a new job, at D1 Central Arkansas, which makes their commitments to UAH tenuous. While they remain formerly signed it is often true that the new coaching hire nudges signed players to the curb. If Griffin and Cole want to stay with the program, hopefully they are welcomed by the new staff, but that is not exceedingly common in recent history.
If they do re-enter the recruiting world, then they are both D2 prospects.
@CoachJShulmanWhat an amazing 5 years- so fortunate to have been a part of an amazing culture, university, community and a group of competitive young men that won 4 rings and went to 5 NCAAs! Thank you UAH Men’s Bball and thank you UAH Chargers (Athletics) – sad that it is over but grateful that it happened.
UAH Press Release –
UAH men’s basketball head coach John Shulman has stepped down as the leader of the Chargers to accept the same position at Division I member Central Arkansas.
“I feel very fortunate to have had Coach Shulman as our men’s basketball head coach these past five years,” UAH Director of Athletics Dr. Cade Smith said. “The success he has had both on the court and in our community speaks volumes to his character. We are forever grateful for the impact he has made at UAH and we wish him nothing but the best at UCA.”
In his five seasons at the helm of the UAH program, Shulman boasts a career record of 112-39 and has led the Blue & White to five consecutive NCAA tournament berths. Overall, Shulman has a career coaching record of 257-185 between his time at UAH and at Chattanooga from 2004-13.
