There were a lot of remarkable performances turned in at the 1A Div. II tournament at Barton Community College. But there's no question which stood out. Two teammates stood head and shoulders above the crowd and deserve to be “co-Players of the Tournament.” Cunningham juniors [player_tooltip player_id='2393749' first='Will' last='Wegerer'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1962894' first='Luke' last='Albers'] were historically good.

In order to include the seven guys who clearly belong on the first team, we paired the Cunningham tandem at point guard. But make no mistake, they stand above the rest.

Be sure to note, we added Bucklin's Kaden Tilley to the second team despite the fact his team exited after the first round. Getting 38 points against the eventual champs will do that for you.

Here is the 2024 1A Div. II All-Tournament Team:

PG – (tie) [player_tooltip player_id='2393749' first='Will' last='Wegerer'] 5-foot-10 guard, 2025, Cunningham, and [player_tooltip player_id='1962894' first='Luke' last='Albers'], 5-foot-10 guard, 2025, Cunningham:

There might be enough space here, and enough adjectives available, to describe what these two did at Great Bend. And maybe the most remarkable thing is how evenly the produced points game in, game out. Wegerer talled 25, 24 and 27 points in the three games. Albers got 25, 25 and 23. That means they combined for 50, 49 and 50 in the games against Bucklin, Dighton and Lebo. Crazy. Albers shot 50% from deep, and they combined to hit 35 of 47 free throws. It was about as good, and as even, as two teammates can be.

SG – [player_tooltip player_id='1588418' first='Daniel' last='Cramer'], 5-foot-10 guard, 2025, Dighton:

Dighton finally got to throw its hat in the ring at state, and though they only won one game, they gave really good teams – Cunningham and Axtell – all they could handle in the two losses. Cramer was a gamer, going toe-to-toe with the best guards of the opposing teams and racking up a ton of points. He finished with 72, including 38 in the consolation game against Axtell.

SF – (tie) [player_tooltip player_id='2387736' first='Grayson' last='Shoemaker'], 6-foot-2 forward, 2024, Lebo, and [player_tooltip player_id='2393807' first='Eli' last='Broxterman'], 6-foot forward, 2025, Axtell:

Shoemaker's excellent career came to an end with Lebo once again fighting for a title. He's played in a ton of big games, and he was good right to the end. He scored and distributed as the leader of the Wolves' attack. He scored 50 points. Broxterman stepped up as Axtell's number one option and kept the points coming. He got at least 16 in each game and finished with 59.

PF – [player_tooltip player_id='2393818' first='Zach' last='Oswald'], 6-foot-3 forward, 2025, Lebo:

Oswald sent a message that he's going to be one of the best bigs in the small schools next year. He was dominant down low, scoring 52 points and grabbing 29 rebounds. He was especially dominant in the final game against the smaller Cunningham lineup. They couldn't stop him. He hit 8-11 shots and 6-8 free throws to get 22 points in the championship game.

C – [player_tooltip player_id='1378446' first='Carson' last='Shimer'], 6-foot-4 center, 2024, Dighton:

Shimer has been a statistical standout for several years. But he hasn't had a chance to show what he can do on the big stage until last week. He didn't disappoint. He hit 29-53 field goal attempts and didn't miss a free throw the entire tournament. He averaged 20 points and 14 rebounds, and even led his team in assists in two of the three games.

Second Team:

PG – Luke McGuire, 6-foot guard, 2024, Cunningham

SG – Colin Shaughnessy, 6-foot guard, 2026, Axtell

SF – Andrew Konrade, 6-foot-2 forward, 2025, Lebo

PF – [player_tooltip player_id='2169874' first='Brandon' last='Schmelzle'], 6-foot-2 guard, 2025, Axtell

C – Kaden Tilley, 6-foot-3 center, 2025, Bucklin
