There were 51 new players and here are some of the standouts that are not top-10 for position but are very good players in their own right.
Here are 8 newcomers from the last three months that are off the radar:
Layfe Clarkson Layfe Clarkson 6'3" | SG ALA Queen Creek | 2025 State AZ ALA Queen Creek
A good sized scoring guard with a plus frame can score it in bunches. He is one of the better shooters in all of 4A. He had a couple games with 30+ including 44 versus Page and 34 versus Poston Butte averaging nearly 18 ppg. He squares up quickly and lets it fly. Look for him to continue it next season.
Nate Smith Nate Smith 6'4" | SF Chaparral | 2025 State AZ Chaparral
A wing forward with skill and some length. He can defend multiple positions and will rebound in and out of his area. Offensively he scores on threes off the catch and will smartly cut without the ball. He should get more involved in the offense next season.
Fauster Johnson Fauster Johnson 6'1" | SG AZ College Prep | 2025 State AZ AZ College Prep
I watched him a couple times and seemed to get better and gained more confidence as the year went on. He scores on catch threes, pull-ups while being contested and runners to the basket. He will rebound and can make a play for a teammate.
Dane Milinovich Dane Milinovich 6'4" | SG Cactus Shadows | 2025 State AZ Cactus Shadows (Pictured)
A bigger sized scoring guard is a two-way player. He may turn into the coveted 3 and D type. He has a pure shooting stroke from beyond the three point line. He can also get to the paint and score using the floater game. He moves his feet well and keeps his defenders in front of him.
Matt Quinlan Matt Quinlan 6'1" | CG Rancho Solano Prep | 2025 State AZ Rancho Solano Prep
A sturdy framed combo guard can play on or off the ball. He was one of their best on-ball defenders and slowed all of his opponents all year with his lateral quickness and strength. He can pull-up and hit the three.
Carter Brown Carter Brown 6'0" | CG Ironwood Ridge | 2025 State AZ Ironwood Ridge
The Nighthawks season didn’t go the way they wanted but Carter averaged nearly 20 ppg. He scored 20 points versus the talented Cholla team. He manages to get downhill with quicker burst to score or get to the FT line plus score with jumpers from both levels.
Connor Hendershot Connor Hendershot 6'3" | SF Canyon View | 2025 State AZ Canyon View
A stronger framed wing forward comes off the bench for the talented Jaguars and produced. He can defend from inside and on the perimeter plus will score with dribble drives and jumpers from the perimeter.
Hayden Stebbins Hayden Stebbins 6'2" | SG Notre Dame Prep | 2025 State AZ Notre Dame Prep
A scoring guard had some big moments during the long season. They had a couple injuries, including his own during the year and he stepped up with shots from the three point line off the catch and can even pull-up from mid. He moves the ball like you should and look for him to possibly start or get bigger minutes as Batson Jr. graduates.
