Here is the 2024 4A All-Tournament Team:
PG – Dasean Lewis Dasean Lewis 5'10" | PG Hugoton | 2024 State KS , 5-foot-10 guard, 2024, Hugoton:
For the second year in a row, Lewis stood out at the 4A tournament. Both times he has carried a heavy weight as the primary ball handler and facilitator of the offense. With graduation of a couple of star guards a year ago, Lewis stepped up his scoring load as well. He averaged 13 points per game and hit all 10 of his free throws. He was a threat from deep and kept the offense revved up. He is a quick and pesky defender too.
SG – (tie) Cory Muehler Cory Muehler 5'11" | CG McPherson | 2024 State KS , 6-foot guard, 2024, McPherson and Kyden Thompson Kyden Thompson 6'2" | SG McPherson | 2024 State KS , 6-foot-2 guard, 2024, McPherson (pictured):
This seems like this is the best way to do this. Both these guys have to be on the first team. They were arguably the two best players in Salina. And since they are so interchangeable, let’s celebrate them both together here. These guys have impressed at state since their sophomore years. This year’s tournament run was simply special. They combined to score at least 30 points in each game, and they finished with 34.3 combined scoring average. They racked up assists and hit from deep, handled the ball and ran the offense to their teammates’ advantage.
SF – Cooper Carr Cooper Carr 6'2" | CG Baldwin | 2026 State KS , 6-foot-2 guard, 2026, Baldwin:
By pairing Muehler and Thompson at the shooting guard, we were able to get both Lewis and Carr on the first team. Carr showed at state that his amazing sophomore year could be sustained against the best competition. He scored 25 in the first game and got 32 in the consolation game. He finished with a nifty 70 points for the three games. He hit an impressive 24-28 from the line and stuffed the rest of the stat sheet
PF – Gabe Pyle Gabe Pyle 6'5" | SF McPherson | 2025 State KS , 6-foot-5 forward, 2025, McPherson:
The stars of the 4A tournament were mostly guards while the forwards were mostly workhorse guys. Pyle stood out as a highly-skilled offensive big man. He knocked down 6 threes and 12-26 total shots. He gives the Bullpups length without bogging down their fast-paced, perimter shooting style. He was big at last year’s tournament, so it was no surprise he responded in the big games.
C – (tie) Jeter Purdy Jeter Purdy 6'4" | PF Atchison | 2024 State KS , 6-foot-4 forward, 2024, Atchison, and Izeyah Harris Izeyah Harris 6'5" | PF Hugoton | 2024 State KS , 6-foot-5 forward, 2024, Hugoton:
Neither of these guys is really a center, but we need to fill this spot with somebody with some length. These two put up pretty similar stats for the tournament. Purdy was consistently good in the tournament, getting buckets, playing defense and rebounding. Harris was Hugoton’s second leading scorer in the tourney with 35 points and was consistently big on the glass, getting 9, 8 and 9 boards in the three games.
Second Team:
PG – Trey Carter Trey Carter 5'9" | PG Atchison | 2024 State KS , 5-foot-9 guard, 2024, Atchison
SG – Xiomar Hernandez Xiomar Hernandez 6'0" | SG Atchison | 2024 State KS , 5-foot-10 guard, 2024, Atchison
SF – Jay Acosta Jay Acosta 6'2" | SG Hugoton | 2025 KS , 6-foot-1 guard, 2025, Hugoton
PF – (tie) Isaac Martin, 6-foot-4 forward, 2025, Hugoton, and Eric Smith Eric Smith 6'3" | SF Atchison | 2025 State KS , 6-foot-3 forward, 2025, Atchison
C – Leo Schoenberger Leo Schoenberger 6'4" | C Baldwin | 2026 State KS , 6-foot-4 center, 2026, Baldwin
