Over the past two seasons at East Poinsett County, Jacob Gaines Jacob Gaines 6'0" | CG East Poinsett County | 2026 State AR has been one of the best scorers in the 2A classification. #35 in the 2026 class is respectable, but from what he has done so far in his career, he should be higher.
Gaines averaged 16.9 points per game last season, along with 8.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.8 steals, and 0.9 blocks per game. Gaines is a great inside-outside scorer, hitting 37% of his threes and shooting 55% from inside the arc. If he is unable to create his own offense, he is not afraid of sharing the basketball, always being able to find open teammates.
On the other end of the floor, Gaines can make life difficult for opposing guards, playing hounding on-ball defense for all 32 minutes. Though he is a guard, he has proven that with his athleticism, he can block shots at the rim. Gaines is a slashing downhill player that looks to score tough buckets inside. He often seeks contact and looks to finish strong. He plays bully ball going north and south attacking the lane. at a high rate. He is an athletic jumper that can change his direction in air and control his body well. A willing rebounder that follows his shots looking for put back chances. A solid defender on all perimeter players that is highly conditioned.

Jacob Gaines Jacob Gaines 6'0" | CG East Poinsett County | 2026 State AR had a top tier game against Marshall High School to lead his EPC Warriors to a 2A State Championship. He earned most valuable player putting up 22 points and 9 rebounds, 1 rebound short of a double-double. The sophomore battled thru the zone defense for a handful of tough off balance baskets. Gaines showed his athletic jumping in the game snagging rebounds that seemed out of his area. The Marshall Bobcats started the 4th quarter in front by 7 but the Warriors fought tirelessly to jump back out ahead and win late into the 4th quarter. The underdog aspect worked so well this entire post season as they defeated three #1 seeds to claim the trophy.
