Johnson showed his versatility utilizing his athleticism to play both inside and out. He plays almost as a point forward and had his handprint on almost every play against Caldwell County. He has a unique level of strength and leaping ability which made him one of the better rebounder on the floor even not being the tallest guy. He went after every ball with two hands and rebounded out of his area. Made tough plays down the stretch and consistently finished strong right at the rim.
JayDarius Wilson
JayDarius Wilson
Wilson is a long, bouncy big man that had so much impact on the game, especially on the defensive end. He Was all over the place blocking shots and grabbing rebounds. If he wasn’t blocking the shot, he was affecting the shot and making it hard on anyone from Madisonville-North Hopkins to finish around the rim. The two things that stood out to me that I was impressed with was his quick twitch jumping ability to quickly get in the air and also his discipline of not fouling guys at the rim by being undisciplined. Was really impressed by him.
Jacob Slone
Jacob Slone
Slone showcased his athleticism pushing the ball in transition using his speed and change of pace. He seemed to get to the paint at will vs Belfry and found open teammates all over the floor. He dictated tempo and did a good job playing both on and off ball. Although there were times he could have been out of control with how fast he was going, he never seemed to get sped up. Good athlete from the guard spot.
Shelton is a sneaky athlete that really utilizes his athleticism to make tough shots. It didn’t seem like any of his shots he made or took came easy or were wide open. He is ultimately a tough shot taker and maker. He was at his best getting to the rim acrobatically scoring at the rim vs Trimble County. Seemed to always make the big plays when they needed it.
Highlights
Brennen Gordon
Brennen Gordon
Gordon is extremely quick and flys all over the floor. Seemed to always be involved in every 50/50 ball and was able to cause problems for Williamstown by his motor and speed. He was great as an on ball defender with great lateral quickness and was at his best when the game became up tempo. He was great last night.
Honore Yangoua
Honore Yangoua
Yangoua got to the rim at will and got to whatever spot he wanted. Good driver going either direction and did a really good job getting back up to rebound his misses at the rim for put backs. He was an elite threat in transition with his speed and showcased the ability to score thru contact at the rim. High level athlete and has very good skill.
Nick Mullins
Nick Mullins
Mullins is again a sneaky athlete that will catch you sleeping if you aren’t careful. He made a clutch put back in the 4th quarter that they needed flying from in from the wing and followed it right up with a deep 3 pointer to fuel Marion County. He used his change of pace to get to his spots and was extremely smart with how he moved. Had a a really good performance vs Campbellsville.
Deondre Weathers
Deondre Weathers
Weathers was electric in transition with extreme speed that looked to push the tempo every time he touched the ball. He went after defensive rebounds so he could get it and go. He didn’t force it too much, he looked for open guys running the floor with him, but he overall put at ton of pressure on the defense and attracted so much attention that others got easy baskets.
