Prep Hoop Hall Standouts (Part 2)

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>While most eyes were on Hoop Hall at Springfield College with some of the top high school teams in the country, there was another event just down the road that had the best post grad teams in the country. With over 30 teams and hundreds of college coaches in attendance, the Hoop Hall Prep Showcase had tons of talent from all over the country and is always one of the top events in the country.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here's a look at part two of the standouts from the VA schools in attendance.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Khalil Williams | 6'5” WG | Hargrave 2024</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:image {"id":2300241,"sizeSlug":"large","linkDestination":"media"} --> <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/12/Williams-Khalil.jpeg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/12/Williams-Khalil.jpeg?w=683" alt="" class="wp-image-2300241" /></a></figure> <!-- /wp:image --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>While Hargrave went 1-1 on the weekend, you can start to see them improving and Williams is going to be a major part of their success moving forward. The 6'5” lefty is one of their best scorers as he can light it up from deep with good range, he can get to spots in the midrange and at the rim off the bounce and he gets to the line a lot too. He finished with 20 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals in their loss to Perkiomen and 9 points in their win over Covenant.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1759746' first='Nigel' last='Clarkson'] | 6'7” WF | Hargrave 2024</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Clarkson is another player who is starting to look more and more comfortable, as the Columbia commit is playing with more confidence and is starting to shoot the ball better as well. He's a unique prospect with his size and length at his position, he can knock down shots and doesn't need a lot of space to get it off and he can play and guard multiple positions too. He finished with 10 points in their win over Covenant.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Ralph Akuta | 7'1” C | Hargrave 2024</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:image {"id":2297541,"sizeSlug":"large","linkDestination":"media"} --> <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/12/Akuta-Ralph.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/12/Akuta-Ralph.jpg?w=817" alt="" class="wp-image-2297541" /></a></figure> <!-- /wp:image --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Akuta has been a player we have been watching for years, and whoever is willing to take a chance on him could end up with a steal as he is getting better and better every time we see him. The 7'1” big man alters everything in the paint and is a good shot blocker with length and timing, he is able to rebound on the offensive end and catch and finish and he's starting to get up and down the floor more. He finished with 8 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks in their loss to Perkiomen and 7 points and 11 rebounds in their win over Covenant.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Leland Coleman | 6'6' WF | Hargrave 2024</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:image {"id":1905488,"sizeSlug":"large","linkDestination":"media"} --> <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/04/Coleman-Leland-Loaded.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/04/Coleman-Leland-Loaded.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-1905488" /></a></figure> <!-- /wp:image --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Coleman is another player coaches should start to look at, as he's picked up his motor on a consistent basis and couple that with his athleticism he's becoming a stout two way player. He can play above the rim whether it's getting downhill or crashing the glass offensively, he got back defensively and did a good job staying in front and challenging shots coming help side and he made hustle plays throughout the event. He finished with 6 points and 8 rebounds in their win over Covenant and 8 points and 12 rebounds against Perkiomen.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Trey Minard | 6'3” CG | Hargrave 2024</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Minard has emerged as Hargrave's sixth man and he fits the role perfectly as he can come off the bench and score it in bunches when he gets it going. He's a three level scorer with a lot of confidence as he thinks every shot he takes is going to go in, he can get downhill and is a good finisher with athleticism and he brings toughness on the defensive end as well. He finished with 18 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals in their win over Covenant.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
