A freshman?! Armani is a lefty that plays downhill.

[player_tooltip player_id='2309040' first='Josh' last='Basden'] (Kirkwood) played actively. His long arms were constantly in passing lanes. Basden is probably the younger brother of senior Prophet Basden, who is himself a decent player. Josh was very nimble and speedy with long limbs. He might be a 6-foot-3 wing midway through his sophomore season. Keep an eye on Basden during AAU season too. He is going to be a really interesting college prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id='2309001' first='Anthony' last='Goring'] (Kirkwood) looks tall and moderately athletic. These two traits rarely intersect in 15-year-old young men. The freshman did not score much. The game looked a little fast for him, but not drastically so.

[player_tooltip player_id='2609280' first='Linkoln' last='Schwass'] (Kirkwood) showed an ability to hit a jumper. During warm-ups he was very accurate. The few times he shot during the game it was smooth.

Henry County vs. Waverly Central

Waverly Central (Partial starters*)
Head Coach Les Trotter
#0 [player_tooltip player_id='1965931' first='Landon' last='Cunningham'] * PG
#10 Hobby Griffin
#11 Braylon Wilson SF/PF
#21 Hayden Waggoner (2025)
#22 Tucker Rawlings* (2025) PG/SG
#23 Jaden Lambdin (2025) C
#24 Landon Hewitt (2025)
#33 Karson Hedin* (2025)
#34 Chris Ballard (2026)
Aiden Ralston (2026)

[player_tooltip player_id='1965931' first='Landon' last='Cunningham'] (Waverly Central) took it upon himself to attack early in the fourth quarter. All day the Tigers struggled to score and Cunningham tried a crossover, hit his defender with a quick spin-move and managed to get off a layup as two players fouled him. It was a lonely highlight in a convincing loss.

Shelbyville Central vs. Dyersburg

Team Preview: Dyersburg

Shelbyville Central came out in a 2-3 zone, planting [player_tooltip player_id='2042762' first='Matthew' last='Tae'Shawn Shelton'] under the rim. The team lists him 6-foot-7. We measured him at 6-foot-5 way back in June at the PrepHoopsTN Combine. He might be 6-foot-7 by now. Great leaper.

A.J. Higgins (Dyersburg) and his fellow DHS guards really scrapped against the outmanned Central guards at the outset. Thadd Hill was another wonderful on-ball defender in the first quarter.

In the post, [player_tooltip player_id='2274856' first='Breyden' last='Turnage'] caused a lot of problems for Shelbyville Central. The Eagles decided to foul him a lot. Read more about that below the rosters. Turnage finished a beautiful left-handed baby hook late in the first quarter. The bucket enlarged the lead, situating DHS up 6-2.

Midway through the second quarter, [player_tooltip player_id='1382741' first='Ace' last='Mahaffey'] (DHS) dribbled into a pull-up three-pointer in transition. His make changed the tone of the game. Dyersburg then led 13-5.

Shelbyville finally found their footing late in the first half, when Kyler Trice dropped a smooth Euro. DHS led 14-12 with 2:30 in the half after his make.

Shelbyville Central Starters*
#2 Terrance Johnson*
#3 [player_tooltip player_id='2042762' first='Matthew' last='Tae'Shawn Shelton']* (2026)
#4 Kyler Trice*
#5 Malek Johnson (2025)
#23 Shamarion Drapper*
#30 [player_tooltip player_id='2884439' first='Jevon' last='Lee']* (2027)

Dyersburg

#0 [player_tooltip player_id='2274878' first='Jace' last='Ward'] (2027)
#1 [player_tooltip player_id='1382741' first='Ace' last='Mahaffey']*
#2 A.J. Though he played through it, Shelton picked up his second foul with 2:43 left in the first quarter. Malek Johnson and Zyon Bonner were the first to see time off of the bench. Zyon entered when Shelton committed his second foul.
