With teams on a hiatus during the holiday break, let's check in on the statistical leaders in each category in each class to get a better feel for who some of the most productive players in the state have been so far this season. Leaders for this article are from whatever has been input into Bound as of 12/26 at 10:30 am.

1.) 2025 [player_tooltip player_id='2398087' first='Fabian' last='Ortiz-Alaniz'] (Madrid) - 8.0 assists per game

Few players in the state have been as impressive as Ortiz-Alaniz so far this season, playing with remarkable efficiency for one of the most explosive offensive teams in the state. A 5-8 guard, he's averaging 17.3 points, 2.6 steals, and posting 55-50-73 shooting splits, but the most eye-popping number is his assist-to-turnover ratio of 7.20! So far this season he has dished out 72 assists against just 10 turnovers.

2.) 2024 Jared Aronson (Waterloo Christian) - 7.8

Aronson is a quick 5-7 guard who can get to the rim, putting constant pressure on opposing defenses. He's averaging 12.4 points a game and plays with a pair of double-figure scorers who help boost that assist total.

3.) 2025 [player_tooltip player_id='2397192' first='Adam' last='Sobczak'] (Holy Trinity Catholic) - 7.2

Sobczak is a quick, athletic guard who is a true pass-first guard, averaging three more assists a game than points this season for the Crusaders. On a team featuring three double-figure scorers, he's the straw that stirs the drink for the group, using his speed and court vision to impact the game.

4.) 2024 Dominic Coleman (BGM) - 7.1

Another player averaging more assists than points is Coleman, who puts up 6.5 points a game for the Bears. He has the ball in his hands a ton and has also been really good on the glass for this group, pulling down 8.1 rebounds a night.

5.) 2025 Mark Bower (Colo-Nesco) - 6.6

Another true point guard who looks to pass first, second, and third, Bower has been exceptional with his ball security this season for the Royals, posting a 3.79 assist-to-turnover ratio, one of the best ratios in the state.

6.) 2024 Noah Terhark (George-Little Rock) - 6.6

Terhark is a bit of an outlier on this list, a forward who does all of his offensive damage inside the arc. At 6-1, he has the size of a guard, but he's comfortable playing around the rim, and he has certainly shown that he can be a really effective playmaker out of the painted area for the Mustangs, posting a 2.3 assist-to-turnover ratio and averaging 10.1 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals, and 1.5 blocks a game.

7.) 2025 Caden Page (Murray) - 6.0

A 6-1 guard who does a good job getting into the teeth of the defense and finding open shooters or cutters, Page has also been a bit of a menace on the defensive end of the floor this season for the Mustangs, averaging 3.2 steals a night.

8.) 2024 Cole Kindred (Keota) - 5.9

The Eagles are off to an outstanding start to the season, heading into the break ranked #7 in the state by the IAHSAA, and Kindred is a major reason why. An efficient scorer, solid defender, and skilled playmaker, he has been fantastic at getting his teammates involved and limiting turnovers with a 3.93 assist-to-turnover ratio. He's also contributing 3.0 steals a game.

9.) 2024 [player_tooltip player_id='1587394' first='Maddox' last='Hammerstrom'] (Panorama) - 5.9

Hammerstrom (pictured) is a tough, physical guard who uses his strength and length to get to the rim, and he sees the floor really well. In addition to his work as a playmaker, he also leads the Panthers in scoring, pouring in 14.3 points a game.

10.) 2024 [player_tooltip player_id='1171666' first='Corder' last='Noun Harder'] (Lynnville-Sully) - 5.9

A heady lead guard who impacts the game on both ends of the floor in a major way, Noun Harder loves to get his teammates involved and puts constant pressure on opposing teams with his ability to break down a defense and get into dangerous positions.
