Cy Hoops Invitational Dynamic Duos

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We saw quite the great day of basketball on Friday at the Berry Center for the annual Houston Methodist Cy Hoops Invitational tournament and there were some upsets and some not so surprising victories. The 6'3 class of 2024 Archie was the main playmaker for the Lions as he showed patience and shiftiness bringing the basketball up the court and seemingly scoring at will every time his team needed a bucket. 6'11 class of 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2231892' first='Wyatt' last='Seale'] clogged up the interior and even showed range on his shots, hitting a few clutch jumpers from deep to propel his team to a double digit lead. Seale used his wingspan and interior game well, grabbing several rebounds and putting them right back up over the defender for easy buckets, as well as showing a good knowledge of the pick and roll game which him and Archie ran to perfection. Malek made his case known as one of the very underrated 2024 unsigned guards in the state with this weekend's performances and will continue to make his mark on a very disciplined Lions squad. Julian had a huge game from beyond the arc in an overtime thriller win over McKinney during primetime, hitting the regulation tying three to send the game to extra quarters. Greer continued the hot shooting in OT as he hit at least 3 more three pointers to clutch the game in crunch time. Porter showed great knowledge with the ball in his hands, always knowing where his teammates were on both ends of the court at all times and was effective scoring under pressure when his number was called. Jeff was very efficient from deep, draining several three pointers in the face of the defense and possessing great footwork on defense, notching key steals leading to multiple transition buckets. I like how vocal Savoie is on the court, always the loudest one on both ends. Jeff has tremendous upside and I am very intrigued by his physical style of play. He can beat his defender to the basket also, using his speed and quickness to get to the rim and finish with ease even over contact. Trae was one of the main catalysts for his Bears squad staying in the contest the whole duration, finishing several and one shots at the rim and in the midrange. Busby has underrated playmaking skills and has deceiving speed when dribbling the ball on the fastbreak. His long wingspan allows him to get key stops on defense, and often come away with the rebound. Braylon was the key playmaker, showing patience and deadly speed with the basketball in his hands, showing he can score from all three levels of the floor. Rathan-Mayes had a huge impact on the game from all around perspective, scoring the basketball despite being closely guarded physically the entire game. Tyrus showed deep range on his shots as well as finishing over the defense and converting shots at the foul line. When he is hitting his jumpers, the Lobos are tough to guard given that Tyrus is someone the defense always has to watch closely because he can heat up at any time. I loved watching Scott not be afraid to take tough shots as well, but he is also patient on the offensive end, waiting for the right opportunity to strike.
