Hamilton at Brophy Prep: Freshman Standouts

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Wednesday December 13th I attended the 6A matchup of the <strong>Hamilton Huskies</strong> traveling to Phoenix to take on the <strong>Brophy Prep Broncos</strong>.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Before the varsity tipped off I checked out the freshmen game.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Brophy Prep won 43-33.</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Here were the Freshmen Standouts:</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1873694' first='Tyrese' last='Holmes'] Brophy Prep</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A good sized wing has many traits to like. He can attack to the basket and has a good feel to make a play. He has advanced post footwork inside and he can rebound and push it up the court. He will block shots and collect steals. He shoots the three and is one of the more polished Bronco on the undefeated team.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2146242' first='Cooper' last='Frakes'] Brophy Prep&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A true combo guard handles the ball a lot for them. He can dribble drive to the basket plus rise up from mid-range. He cuts when he should and takes contact well with a stronger frame and shows good body control.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2297438' first='Oliver' last='Burbach'] Brophy Prep (Pictured)&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A combo guard is the younger brother to junior standout Ryan. He plays the passing lanes well and has a good feel to make plays. He plays on or off the ball just as well but that pretty jumper with range past the three is what makes his game go.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2297439' first='Donovan' last='McNabb'] Brophy Prep</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The son of former NFL QB is very athletic. He is a fluid athlete who rebounds well and is a tough on-ball defender. It is very hard to get past him. He is a capable perimeter shooter and gets out in transition.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2297441' first='Gavin' last='Reddy'] Brophy Prep</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The undersized point guard is a good passer. He can get into the teeth of the defense and find a teammate to throw the dime. He is a sneaky quick ball handler and he will hit the catch three.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2109038' first='Nate' last='Tainsky'] Hamilton&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A scoring guard with a good feel and makes all the right passes you need to make. He rebounds well and plays the right way. He can rattle in threes once he gets hot. He is good in the passing lanes to collect steals which often lead to points.<strong> </strong>He also played on JV and scored in double figures.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2107119' first='Cristian' last='Jimenez'] Hamilton</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A very quick point guard with the ball on a string. He has a tight handle to get to the basket but he also knows how to change speeds well. Not many have his yo-yo handle. He can score on speed layups and floaters off the glass. He also has quick hands to play the passing lanes.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2297437' first='Dylan' last='Vargas'] Hamilton&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A long power forward who rebounds well with good activity. His motor. length and good size for a freshman allows him to grab the ball and he is a phenomenal shot blocker. He times it well and he is also very efficient to score inside the paint with good hands. He also played on JV.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2146291' first='Jake' last='Steele'] Hamilton&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A wing forward who can get to the basket with layups and euros in traffic with either hand. He rebounds well with high effort and will score on offensive rebound put backs.   </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2297440' first='Akil' last='Abdullah'] Hamilton&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A very long small forward can face up to the three and gobbles up all balls to rebound in and out of his area. He has a live body with plus athleticism. He covers in space and inside to defend.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
