Perry at Sunnyslope: Fr & JV Standouts

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Friday, December 8th I attended the 6A&nbsp;<strong>Perry Pumas</strong>&nbsp;at the 6A&nbsp;<strong>Sunnyslope Vikings</strong>&nbsp;freedom game.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Before the varsity tipped off, I checked out the Freshman and Junior Varsity games to see some good younger players.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Here were the Freshman Standouts:</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2292815' first='Jamar'e' last='Stoudemire'] Perry (Pictured)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A long wing forward with decent size already. He can step out and shoot the three off the catch and take long strides to the basket. He will go after rebounds&nbsp;with his quick second jump and he is a supreme shot blocker in and out of his area. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2146244' first='Cristian' last='Uribe'] Perry</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The point guard of the team who guides them and talks all game long. He changes speeds well and has a quick burst. He will score on running layups, pull-ups from mid to the three and seems like the mid is his sweet spot. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2292816' first='Luke' last='Galvanoni'] Perry</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A long wing cuts when he should, he can shoot the three point shot but is best getting to the basket. He takes long strides to maneuver in the paint.&nbsp; He uses his long arms to play the passing lanes and rebound. He is also a smart passer.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2149104' first='Leroy' last='Wood'] Perry</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A stronger forward who will score and defend. He will shoot it from the three point line off the catch plus has good ball fakes in his bag. He will pull-up from mid-range and is very efficient inside the paint to score. He plays physical on-ball defense and he is a good passer and rebounder in and out of his area. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2292817' first='Kaden' last='Williams'] Sunnyslope</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A highly skilled guard who is quick. He moves the ball well and can get by his defender off the dribble. He can fall away from mid-range and takes contact well driving to the cup. He is deceptively long in the passing lanes to collect steals.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2292818' first='O'mari' last='Gilbert'] Sunnyslope</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A long power forward has a versatile game. He is a shot blocker using his length and timing and the lefty moves well from end to end. He can face up to the three point line and has a soft touch on his free throw shooting.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Ryder Cirone PG 5'7 2027 Sunnyslope</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>An undersized point guard has a quick first step to get downhill. He gets to the FT line often and knows how to change speeds. He shows toughness and skill. He is a good passer as he made a few phenomenal passes down the court and slipped a couple thru to teammates.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Here are the Junior Varsity Standouts:</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2293079' first='Jayden' last='Cunningham'] Perry</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A skilled point guard can score and make plays for his teammates. He gives hard ball fakes and will go up to score. He can also shoot it with pull-ups from mid to the three point line. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1754270' first='AJ' last='Remo'] Perry</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A skilled scorer from both perimeter levels. He hits pull-ups from mid-range and catch triples. He plays with a high feel for the game and is a confident shooter off the catch or pull.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1469392' first='Jeremiah' last='Jones'] Perry&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The big man moves well from end to end. He rebounds without really needing to jump with his elite size and length. He can run the floor and dunk it. He will also score on tip ins, lobs in the air and put backs. He has a good touch on his free throws.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2293077' first='Noah' last='Dayton'] Perry</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A combo guard with a strap from the three point line. He has a nice floater game and is calm with the ball. He has a quick burst to the basket and uses his good upper body strength to score thru contact. He can pull-up from mid-range.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2293075' first='Tommy' last='Reeve'] Sunnyslope</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A lefty scoring guard plays some JV and is on varsity. He can rattle off triples one by one. He plays off the ball mostly but he is a very good passer with a high IQ for the game.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2293074' first='Darren' last='Desmond'] Sunnyslope</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A strong wing forward who can hit the three off the catch. He is very athletic to block shots off the glass and rebounds at a good rate. He has a good frame to rip thru and get to the basket and is very fast in the open court to outrace his opponents with or without the ball.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2292819' first='Matt' last='Barry'] Sunnyslope</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A smart point guard with a burst and skill. The freshman was playing up on JV and played well. He can shoot it from mid to the three and has a pure free throw stroke with a high arc and textbook form.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
