McFarlane left his mark in his final season at Hayfield, walking away with All District and All Region honors while continuing to emerge as a two-way jumbo guard. Playing on the sneaker circuit level for the first time, McFarlane , he has no problem fitting in physically as he intrigues with his ability to play both on and off the ball with premier size for the backcourt. McFarlane is a regular threat to touch the paint while showing growing consistency in his ability as a perimeter shooter. He has the tools to be an impactful and versatile defender across the perimeter, which could potentially be a calling card of his moving up to the next level. D2s, JUCOs, and prep schools should be all over McFarlane, who certainly checks some boxes of a late-bloomer who eventually finds his way to the D1 level.

The skilled big combo guard leaves his imprint whenever he touches the floor, being extremely productive all over the court. Alex was such an effective scorer, facilitator whether it was setting the table, attacking off the bounce and getting inside to get paint touches, or facing up to knock down shots. You add on top of that his feel and passing ability, his versatility, and his overall feel, McFarlane certainly earned the attention of college level prospect.

Alex does a fantastic job catching shooting and moving to get open looks. He can create his own off-the-bounce, and he does a great job finishing through traffic as a driver. Alex is a great athlete and has the size you want out of a 2 guard at the next level. Alex finished with 21 and 10 against Flint Hill. 

-McFarlane made a statement in a matchup with the host Dons, scoring the ball at a high level and showing off some sneaky bounce. McFarlane utilizes a great first step to get to his spots and rise up for a jumper at all 3 levels. His offensive versatility was on display as he made two athletic layups through contact, knocked down his FTs, hit a 3 off movement, hit a runner off glass to pull his team within one, hit a coast to coast layup to give them their last lead of the game, and almost landed a one-handed poster dunk in transition. McFarlane would be a great late cycle get for a LM coach looking for an explosive scoring guard with some upside.
