August 21st-22nd Cedric Cobb Sr and I had the 6th annual Southwest Basketball Camp at the Phhacility in Phx, AZ. 120 players from four states came to gain exposure in front of college coaches and scouts plus compete versus some top end players over the two days.

Each player competed in 5 games for the two days plus 60 competed in an extra All-Star Game. (Top-20, Top-40 and a Non-Senior All-Star Game)

We start breaking down each team.

Next up is Team Oregon

[player_tooltip player_id='1178304' first='Isaiah' last='Hill'] Pueblo

Hill earned the MVP of the Top-20 game with his phenomenal play. He is a rare pure point guard with an ultra quick yo-yo handle. He can thread the needle to make plays and is in full command of his team. He showed he can easily score it as well. He has an incredible euro step move he often uses and will pull-up from mid to the three with ease. He is a pit bull on defense and his burst is elite for the AIA. Look for him to carry a big load taking them into the playoffs.

[player_tooltip player_id='1351364' first='Noah' last='Wilhelm'] Ponderosa/CO

A scoring guard is a natural athlete and shooter. He can easily dunk it on the break and shows good body control in the air. His vertical pop allows him to block shots at the rim and will rebound in his area. He can shoot the 3pt shot and get hot from deep. He can also get a step on his defender and finish at the rim or use the floater. He is a sneaky good passer as well. He made the Top-40 game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2133605' first='Andrew' last='Lyon'] Prescott

A scoring guard is a catch three point shooter. Camp coach Erik Hood said, “He is a deadeye shooter with a high IQ.” He does play very hard on defense and definitely shares the ball. He will be role player up in Prescott this season for them to come in and make perimeter shots.

[player_tooltip player_id='2825338' first='Cade' last='Carlstrom'] SG 5'9 2027 Madison Highland Prep

Carlstrom was the youngest on the team and although he didn't have the big production, he is a very smart player who plays hard. You can tell he has been coached and tried to do all the right things regardless of the outcome. He did get downhill with his handle and change of speed.

[player_tooltip player_id='1674460' first='Zy' last='Fuentes'] Desert Ridge

A good sized combo guard is a very smart passer and he has a deep three point range. The shooter can also dribble drive and find a teammate or get to the basket. He will be a secondary ball handler for the Jaguars and score it. He made the Top-40 game.

[player_tooltip player_id='1570816' first='Payton' last='Lapping'] Desert Ridge

A high IQ shooting guard has a well rounded game. He cuts when he should for buckets and likes getting downhill to score in traffic. He is a smart passer who rarely takes bad shots. He can hit the three and plays fundamental defense. He made the Top-40 game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2133599' first='Eldon' last='Olson'] Mesa Mountain View

A good sized power forward for the Toros. He is a very good rebounder with some physicality and strength. He scores in the paint while taking long strides towards the basket. After he cleans the glass, he will score on put backs and plays hard throughout the game.

[player_tooltip player_id='1612509' first='Jalen' last='White'] AZ Compass Prep Black (Pictured)

A top end talent had his way throughout the two days. He is a deep ball shooter and is very good with the 1-2 dribble pull-up from mid-range using his elite size for position. Inside he has multiple counter moves he can utilize and will block shots near the rim. He is a very long strider to get to the basket quickly but his pull-up three off the dribble is nearly impossible to defend. He made the Top-20 game and was the Most Outstanding Player of the Camp.

[player_tooltip player_id='2133623' first='Imisi-Oluwa' last='Motunde'] AZ Compass Prep Black

A thicker farmed power forward is strong and very skilled. He is a top notch rebounder using his sticky hands, girth and length to corral the ball. He can throw it down on the break but relies on his touch mostly. He will rattle in triples with range and can work well in the post. He made the Top-40 game and played in the Top-20 game.
