August 21st-22nd Cedric Cobb Sr and I had the 6th annual Southwest Basketball Camp at the Phhacility in Phx, AZ. 120 players from four states came to gain exposure in front of college coaches and scouts plus compete versus some top end players over the two days.

Each player competed in 5 games for the two days plus 60 competed in an extra All-Star Game. (Top-20, Top-40 and a Non-Senior All-Star Game)

We start breaking down each team.

Next up is Team Colorado

[player_tooltip player_id='1629015' first='Drew' last='Dana'] McClintock

An undersized guard had a good showing. He can make plays for others plus score. He has incredible confidence in his abilities to keep shooting. He will rattle in threes, pull-up from mid-range and uses the floater well. He can make passes with either hand and he will easily be one of the star players on JV this season and play varsity with the six quarter rule.

[player_tooltip player_id='2133600' first='Nathaniel' last='Cosio'] Valley Vista

An undersized scoring combo guard is three point specialist type. Once he sets his feet and lets it fly, he will make shots at a good clip. He is very unselfish and moves the ball well with smart passes. He uses his thicker body to get inside to score or to rebound the ball. He should have a big year for Coach Isai in the West Valley.

[player_tooltip player_id='2109031' first='Conner' last='Koester'] Desert Vista

The incoming freshman is a natural scorer. He was one of the better freshman in attendance. He already has good size and proper skill. He will shoot the three off the catch or off the dribble. He runs the floor for transition layups and is a sneaky good passer showing an IQ to his game. He has good length to possibly be a two-way player down the road.

[player_tooltip player_id='1633021' first='Braylen' last='Singleton'] Chandler

A senior who should get heavy minutes this year. He is a very good ball handler and loves getting downhill using his stronger body and easy bounce to throw it down. He can hit the catch three plus step back on his defender off the dribble. His strength allows him to rebound and defend other ball handlers.

[player_tooltip player_id='1505672' first='Ryan' last='Leggitt'] Desert Ridge

A shooting guard is a deadly shooter off the catch from the three point line. He is almost turning into a specialist but can step back off the dribble plus get into the lane with his sturdy frame and strength. He can throw passes up the court to teammates and can get hot very quickly. He is transferring to Desert Ridge from Chandler and should make some noise next year when their deep group of seniors graduate.

[player_tooltip player_id='2130258' first='Jeremiah' last='Johnson'] Phhoenix Prep (Pictured)

Johnson is the real deal. He is an incredible next level athlete with size, length and supreme hops for position. He can maneuver a defense basically anyway he wants to. He slashes best to the basket and will either finish or find a cutter or open teammate. He can make off balance tough shots from the perimeter and is a pest on the ball defensively. He will lead the OTE team.

[player_tooltip player_id='939069' first='Davius' last='Loury'] Phhoenix Prep

One of the more impressive individual one game performances I viewed was Loury. He is a good athlete not elite but his skill and size for posiiton pop out at you. He can play either forward spot and comes with deep three point range off the catch or can rise up from mid-range with a pure stroke. He rebound and blocks shots in his area but he is an offensive weapon for the OTE team.

[player_tooltip player_id='856640' first='Marcus' last='Fizer Jr'] Phhoenix Prep

The thicker guard/wing is taking a post grad year on the OTE deep squad. He is a well rounded player who handles it, defends many positions, has deep three point range and will take it coast to coast off the glass with his sturdy frame. He is very unselfish and will pass it up ahead to teammates and makes smart reads with the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='2133113' first='Devin' last='Brafford'] Phhoenix Prep

The big man for the OTE team is Brafford. He has a soft touch for his size and he is an easy above the rim athlete. It looks like he is dunking a nerf hoop at times with his legit college size and length. He explodes up quickly and has good hands to catch tough passes. This kid is just scratching the surface.
