Middlebury College Elite Camp: Top Prospects Pt. 1/2

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I made the trip down to Middlebury under cloudy skies, but it didn't take long for these kids to light the gym with solid team play and a track meet tempo in 5v5. With his solid handle and twitchy first step, Will slashed at an incredibly efficient rate as he finished strongly at the rim. His sense of timing + spacing on his moves was excellent, as was his timing and spacing of cuts off ball. Plus, his defense and rebounding were all there. Will's college ready frame and two-way skillset allowed him to shine. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1510864' first='Bjorn' last='Ryning'], 6'6 G/W - Redwood, CA Class of 2024</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Bjorn made it clear that he was the best scorer under the roof. Ryning filled it up at the rim and from deep, creating looks on the ball with his crisp handle and separation or moving into space wisely off the rock. A savvy passer too, Bjorn made plays for others when help came, executing the simple play more often than not and forcing the defense into tough rotations. Versatile defensively and a strong rebounder + pusher of tempo, Bjorn couldn't be contained. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1586719' first='Nathan' last='Lapham'], 6'3 G - Pomfret School, CT Class of 2024</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Nate's playmaking was dialed in from the jump. Lapham demanded defensive attention due to his slashing and shooting from deep, yet he balanced his playmaking wisely and dished the ball often. He was setting teammates up consistently with clean looks due to his ahead-of-the-rotation passing and making those around him better. Paired with his athleticism, size, and length at the 1, Lapham looked like the best PG at camp offensively. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Ryan Stratton, 5'11 G - Hamden Hall, CT Class of 2024</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Ryan was the most impactful guard under 6'0 at Midd's prospect camp. Stratton's facilitation on the break and in the halfcourt was sound as he made quick decisions, forced defensive rotations on his drives, and found the open man. Moreover, Stratton's mid-range pull-up was clicking, making him a dynamic playmaker in the second layer. With a tough frame, nice agility, and a hunger for boards + 50/50s, Ryan put together a nice showing. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Ryan Berns, 6'5 W/F - BC High, MA Class of 2025</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Berns showed that he's a natural around the post but that he's comfortable making plays outside the paint too. Ryan's toughness around the rim was evident as a he finished in a multitude of ways, cleaned glass, and provided rim protection defensively. Yet the lefty also flashed a mid-range jumper and the occasional 3, adding that now almost necessary perimeter punch.
