Parkins is a sizeable prospect who closed things out strong with McDowell High in the 828 area. He utilizes his length well on the hardwood at 6-foot-7, with production of 20.9 points per game as the Titans earned a 4-seed in the NCHSAA 4A State Playoffs. His ability to operate around the rim and beyond on both ends of the floor is difficult to defend. He’s got a bright future ahead of him at Roanoke College in the ODAC.

Parkins is one of many NLPB guys putting together great springs so far, and the 6’7 forward is someone that should be a rock-solid post presence at the next level. He’s been averaging double double type numbers while in a three man rotation in the low post, but just plays his role, does what his group needs from their bigs (which is running hard and rebounding at a high rate), and occasionally showing up some nice post skills/touch. Would be a great pickup for a local area school, and should continue to post big time numbers this summer.

Parkins proved me right in my Live Period Preview article, and looked to be the most impactful big man in NLPB’s dominant win to kick off the live period. He ran the floor hard whenever he was in the game, creating opportunities for both himself as well as his teammates by his proper lane spacing. Also showed good touch around the basket as a finisher, cleaning up other’s misses or getting easy buckets himself. Solid defender on the interior that uses his size well to compensate for any verticality he may be missing. Altered shots with his length and frame in the paint.

Rylan Parkins Rylan Parkins 6'7" | PF McDowell | 2025 State NC is another prospect on the 2025 Watch List out of McDowell High that’s starting to draw attention from PH NC into the rankings. He’s a versatile forward at 6-foot-6 that’s shown he can stretch the floor with his perimeter shooting ability and ability to create out of the post. He produced 15.8 PPG for McDowell High on the varsity scene and returns looking to show his growth after a productive grassroots scene with NLPB WNC Elite. He’s shown he’s ready to have quite the breakout season in the Western region in the class.
