I was able to head down to Omaha to check out Jeremy Travis' squad practice Wednesday evening. Coach Travis leads a group full of talented prospects, much of whom have not received a lot of attention this Spring/Summer. What stood out the most about the group was their team chemistry and how well they played together. Small college coaches in the region (D3/NAIA) should definitely come take a hard look at this squad.

At 6'4, Travis is not your typical player. He plays the role of playmaker/facilitator, as he is an elite passer. Last weekend in Kansas City, Travis averaged over six assists per game. What makes him so different from other guards is size and play style. He is built like a Forward, but plays like a Point Guard. Travis plays with great pace and patience, utilizing his strength and size to his best ability. While he does not posses lighting quick speed, his body control and passing abilities allow him to thrive.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_1_player":["1253996"],"_player_evaluations_1_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":["override_image"],"_player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_1_player_featured_image":2083360,"_player_evaluations_1_player_featured_image":"field_62f141137ead9","player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"[player_tooltip player_id='1253996' first='Preston' last='Marshall'] was very impressive in the action I saw from him. Marshall is known for his high level shooting from deep, as he can get hot in a hurry. However, what stood out most was his feel for the game and high IQ. He never seemed rushed, and always seemed to make the right play or the extra pass. In addition, Marshall showed the ability to play on or off the ball. As he continues to develop, watch for him to have a larger role on a very talented LSW squad this upcoming year.","_player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_2_player":["1253976"],"_player_evaluations_2_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":["override_image"],"_player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_2_player_featured_image":2083362,"_player_evaluations_2_player_featured_image":"field_62f141137ead9","player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"[player_tooltip player_id='1253976' first='Camden' last='Monie'] is a big physical presence, with a versatile skillset to match. Monie showed a lot of toughness and grit on both ends of the court. His coach and teammates raved about his defensive abilities, as he is able to guard a lot of different positions on the court. Monie is also a passionate rebounder, and is not afraid to push people around down low. Offensively, he can stretch the floor with a pretty outside shot, and can also take defenders off of the bounce and finish at the rim.","_player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_3_player":["1371674"],"_player_evaluations_3_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_3_override_profile_image":["override_image"],"_player_evaluations_3_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_3_player_featured_image":2083364,"_player_evaluations_3_player_featured_image":"field_62f141137ead9","player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"Another versatile prospect on this squad is [player_tooltip player_id='1371674' first='Cooper' last='Fortune'] out of Millard West. Fortune is a talented player on both ends of the floor, and can also guard several positions. Fortune displayed a very pretty pull up jump shot, as he constantly found ways to get to his spots on the floor. He also has a soft touch around the rim, and can stretch the floor with a three point shot. Fortune can play several different positions and roles if he needs to. He is a great guy to have on your squad.","_player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_4_player":["1253979"],"_player_evaluations_4_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_4_override_profile_image":["override_image"],"_player_evaluations_4_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_4_player_featured_image":2083366,"_player_evaluations_4_player_featured_image":"field_62f141137ead9","player_evaluations_4_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_4_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_4_evaluation":"[player_tooltip player_id='1253979' first='Emmett' last='Knight'] exemplifies how a point guard should approach the game of basketball. He plays hard, and makes winning plays for his squad. The Creighton Prep product has a high IQ and great feel for the game. In the shooting drills I watched, Knight did not miss many shots. He is a very solid outside shooter with a pretty jump shot. In addition, Knight is also one of the vocal leaders on his team. It is easy to tell he has the respect amongst his teammates, as a point guard should.","_player_evaluations_4_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":5,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"preview","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-64b0b83a61bd1"} /-->
