After an exciting season of high school basketball action in the Volunteer State, it's time to look back at some of the top performers on the court from last year. Today, we will be continuing my "Volunteer State Standouts" series as we evaluate another list of talented rising juniors. After breaking down some high-level point guards, it's time to move onto some intriguing shooting guard prospects. Without any further ado, here's my list of the top 2025 shooting guards in the state of Tennessee to watch out for next season.

At the top of my list of standouts is [player_tooltip player_id='1211987' first='Cade' last='Capps'], a 6-foot-4 shooting guard at Stone Memorial High School. Capps was a high-level weapon on both sides of the floor during his sophomore stint of high school basketball last year. In addition to excellent size, speed and explosiveness, what stands out about Capp is his well-balanced playstyle, strong passing and ability to contribute to the boards from multiple different areas of the court. The rising junior out of Crossville, TN. also impressed with his effort on the other side, utilizing his height and wingspan to make defensive stops and grab second-chance opportunities. After a great season, Capps is definitely worth keeping an eye on next season.

Claiming the second place spot on my list is Jamichael Blair Jr, a 6-foot-3 shooting guard at Bearden High School. Blair was one of the more efficient weapons on the Bulldogs' roster during his sophomore season of high school basketball last year. With impressive size, speed and athleticism, Blair contributed strong ball control, smart passing and a solid shooting effort. The rising junior out of Knoxville, TN. also caught my attention with his effort on the other side, competing with aggression while keeping the opposition out of the paint with his well-balanced playstyle. After an outstanding year on the court, Blair is certainly worth keeping an eye on next season.

Finishing at number three on my list of standouts is [player_tooltip player_id='1273564' first='Myles' last='Sidney'], a 6-foot-5 shooting guard at Lipscomb Academy. Sidney was a highly explosive weapon for the Mustangs during his sophomore stint of high school basketball last year. In addition to excellent size, speed and versatility on both sides of the floor, what stands out about Sidney is his quickness in transition and his ability to consistently contribute to the boards from both around the perimeter and in the paint. The rising junior out of Nashville, TN. also caught my eye with his ability to utilize his height to make a difference defensively and his consistent rebounding effort. After a great year, Sidney is definitely worth watching next season.

At number four on my list is [player_tooltip player_id='1277265' first='Reed' last='Ownby'], a 6-foot-4 shooting guard at Sevier County High School. Ownby was a highly impactful weapon on the Smoky Bears' roster during his sophomore season of high school basketball last year. With impressive size, speed and a solid wingspan, Ownby made a big difference on the boards, showcasing quickness in transition, pin-point accuracy from range and toughness in the paint. The rising junior out of Sevierville, TN. also impressed with his footwork, movement, defensive effort and his consistent rebounding. After a great season, Ownby is without question an intriguing shooting guard to watch for next season.

Coming in at number five on my list of standouts is [player_tooltip player_id='1551555' first='Zane' last='Restelli'], a 6-foot-3 shooting guard at Baylor High School. Restelli was a highly explosive talent on the Red Raiders' roster during his sophomore stint of high school basketball last year. In addition to outstanding size, speed and athleticism, what stands out about Restelli is his well-balanced playstyle, including strong ball control, smart passing and accuracy from range. The rising junior out of Chattanooga, TN. also caught my eye with his ability to drive to the lane, contribute solid defense and grab rebounds. After proving himself on the court last year, Restelli is definitely worth keeping an eye on next season.
