We will include cities in New Mexico such as Albuquerque, Las Cruces, Rio Rancho, Farmington, Hobbs and others. This first segment will be the top ten rankings from Albuquerque ranked 10-6, following with 5-1 sometime this week. ***High School Division Only.
#6 Mike Knaub | PF | Eldorado: Can play the 4 and 5 positions with ease. Mike Knaub is at his best with the basketball in his hands. He can create his own shot at will, get to the rim with no issues and finish through the contact. Mike Knaub is a highlight-reel waiting to happen in the open floor and only requires a few steps and dribbles to get from the three-point line to the basket with his long strides and explosiveness. He is a very underrated mid-range scorer and pull up shooter from 15-18 feet.
#7 Hudson Brown Hudson Brown 5'9" | PG Volcano Vista | 2025 State NM | PG | Volcano Vista: Without a doubt the top two-way point guard in the state heading into the 2023-24 season. Hudson Brown Hudson Brown 5'9" | PG Volcano Vista | 2025 State NM is a traditional, old-school point guard that plays the position the right way and is a second coach on the floor. He is a solid mid-range scorer and three-point shooter that improved a lot since his freshman year. Hudson Brown Hudson Brown 5'9" | PG Volcano Vista | 2025 State NM plays under control, unselfish basketball and with discipline for the Volcano Vista Hawks. It’s not a coincidence that he has two state championship already in his first two years of his high school career.
#8 Gabe Trujillo | CG | Valley: Despite not playing since the 2021-22 season for the West Mesa Mustangs, we’ve been paying a lot of attention to Gabe Trujillo; the newest member to the Valley Vikings. He has been getting well acclimated with his new team in various tournaments and camps. He has gotten stronger, quicker and hungrier in preparation for next season. Gabe Trujillo can play either guard position and can explode offensively on any given night. In my opinion he is one of the state’s best one on one offensive players when he has the basketball in his hands and might be the missing piece to the puzzle for the Valley Vikings quest for another 4A State Championship Title in 2023-24.
#9 Tyler Kozlowski Tyler Kozlowski 5'10" | CG Valley | 2024 State NM | SG | Valley: You can make an argument that Tyler Kozowski will be in the conversation as New Mexico best pure shooter going into the 2023-24 season next year. He has one of the most natural shooting forms you’ll find of anyone coming back next season. He proved that this past year after leading the Valley Vikings to the 4A State Semifinals for the first time since 2019-20. After covering his over the previous three years, it’s clear that Tyler Kozlowski Tyler Kozlowski 5'10" | CG Valley | 2024 State NM has proven he’s more than just a three-point shooting specialist. He has added so much to his game like putting the basketball on the floor pulling up from mid-range, getting to the basket & finishing through contact and even playing the other guard position by running Valley’s off.se as the primary ball handler or playmaker. I expect another big year from Tyler Kozlowski Tyler Kozlowski 5'10" | CG Valley | 2024 State NM as he’s already started to gain college interest to compete at the next level.
#10 Julian Chavez Julian Chavez 6'2" | SG Valley | 2024 State NM | SF | Valley: Without a doubt one of the states most underrated players. Julian Chavez Julian Chavez 6'2" | SG Valley | 2024 State NM was in the discussion as the biggest breakout player of the year this past season as a junior. He led the Valley Vikings in scoring, as they made it all the way to the 4A State Semifinals. Julian Chavez Julian Chavez 6'2" | SG Valley | 2024 State NM is an efficient scorer, has an underrated sneaky handle on the basketball and can create his own shot with ease with a slick crossover above the free throw line area. He is a three-level scorer who will be in the conversation as one of the top players in the 4A Class and State overall next season.
