About Marcus
Expert Analysis
Anthony Fortuna | Prep Hoops Scout
I recently wrote about Jennings Jr. after the Mustangs defeated the Green Valley Gators. He is a dynamic forward who makes a positive impact with his vocal leadership, scoring ability, and defensive presence. That unique blend makes him especially valuable, as he elevates the play of those around him and contributes in multiple phases of the game.

. was both a scorer and a distributor last night. He splashed in a 3-pointer and did some damage in the paint. While also making accurate passes that led to easy buckets for his teammates. I also liked the intensity that he played with and how he communicated on defense. Overall, he played well and he’ll be a 2027 forward to follow this year.

. made the 3-point competition as well. After gaining some momentum from the game of knockout, he was hitting shots with confidence. If he can connect on triples routinely for the Mustangs, he may help them win some tight games this season.

. leverages his frame and strength to gain inside position and score on offense. He also floats beyond the arc at times, and is can hit 3-point shots. On defense, Jennings Jr. doesn’t give up ground easily in the paint and he boxes out well when it’s time to rebound.

Jennings Jr will be playing inside for the Mustangs this season. He has a big frame and some decent footwork for a guy his size. When he has the right match-up, Shadow Ridge will likely feed him the ball and let him go to work. Jennings Jr will also look to divert drivers on the defensive end.

. is a difficult match up for a lot of guys due to his size and footwork in the paint. He has good touch around the rim and can also draw fouls. His size also helps him make plays on defense. He knows how to disrupt shots and does a solid job boxing out when its time to rebound.

MJJ doubles as a sleeper. The Shadow Ridge big man has tremendous feet and low post skills. He has a chance to be one of the best bigs in the last few years, provided he improves his overall conditioning. His ceiling could be as high as a top 5-10 player.

It was terrific seeing MJJ at the Venom Rankings Run. In a game not designed for bigs, he did more than hold his own. His best skill is his agility, as the big fella has suprisingly quick feet. If the two sport star decides to focus exclusively on basketball this summer his size and skill could provide a golden opportunity for him to rise.

Jennings will easily be one of the most intriguing prospects at the camp. The talented low post player should be tough to handle on the block, and the interior in general. After a season where he played sparingly at Shadow, the rankings Run could signal a springboard into his sophomore year.

Playing a hunch on this one, but I believe that Jennings size will simply be to big for him to be ignored. He has some skill along with his size. At the very least, he can be a player that puts up moster numbers at the JV level.
