Midwest Grind Session 17u Sunday Standouts

The 6'6 forward has a real strong frame and with that added height he was tough to defend for several teams this weekend. Primarily a back to the basket post, his drop step was his go to move. The initial contact created with the bump was nearly enough all weekend to get him good looks at the rim as defenders could not contest his shot. Very confident shooter and shots will start to fall with volume. Sunday he had his break out game where he was knocking down the triple consistently. Saturday was a little rougher on his perimeter shooting but found ways to get buckets at the rim with his slashing ability. He's a quick ball handler and can finish over defenders down low, even threw down a fast break dunk in Sundays action. He's a very confident shooter and definitely has the green light for his squad. Anderson ended up sinking 10 triples in HOH's last game Sunday. Pretty impressive if you ask me. At times he was the lead guard and was comfortable and capable as the primary ball handler but gets his buckets off ball. He finds a lot of ways to impact the game in a positive manner. Shields is a very athletic guard and can flat out elevate. As a ball handler he uses his explosive speed to create an advantage and get by his defender. Capable ball handler and utilizes his vertical leap when he goes to finish at the rim. Can finish through, over, and around with some crafty finishes. Shields can knock down the triple off the bounce, and off the catch especially, with some added range. Burton got a lot of his buckets at the rim due to his playmaking ability and his crafty finishes at the cup. He does a great job of beating his man, sliding through traffic, and can finish through contact or go around you and get a bucket that way. He is a tough on ball defender and was a big part of some crucial stops in big games.
