The Hoopsource West Coast Spring Showcase took place this past weekend and we had the opportunity to drop by and catch a number of games in the 17U D1 division held at Clackamas Community College. Here's a look at the top performers we caught in the Class of 2024.

[player_tooltip player_id='1110843' first='Kyle' last='Counts'], DENY (2024 Wilsonville) - Counts has been one of the hottest names in the rising senior class this spring and he didn't disappoint in the action we watched of him this past weekend. The 6-foot-7 forward did pretty much whatever he wanted to offensively, whether it was posting up, facing up and creating off of the dribble, or even knocking down threes. He was a terror on the offensive glass and got a bunch of tip-ins in front of coaches watching from Seattle Pacific and Western Oregon, who recently offered. We caught up with Counts and will have an update posted soon.

[player_tooltip player_id='1232311' first='Jacey' last='Canalin'], DENY (2024 Wells) - After spending most of the time facilitating in the first pool play game we watched, Canalin turned up the scoring in the second. The shifty point guard used his quickness and crossover dribble to create space and was especially effective with his little one-handed floater in the lane. He was aggressive on the defensive end and was able to leak out in transition for some easy buckets.

[player_tooltip player_id='1958224' first='Miles' last='Berry'], DENY (2024 Wells) - Loved the aggressive nature that Berry brought to the table in their opening pool play win. The wing was constantly attacking the basket, looking to get to the hoop while his strong body effectively absorbed contact along the way. Berry showed plenty of hustle and motor on the defensive end as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='1958223' first='Noah' last='Holub'], DENY (2024 Valley Catholic) - One of 3A's leading rebounders this past season, we fully expected Holub to dominate on the glass - which he did. But what somewhat surprised us was his soft touch around the hoop. Whether it was a follow-up, a simple move in the post, or in transition, the rising senior was able to get a number of buckets in the paint which allowed him to finish with a rock-solid double-double.

[player_tooltip player_id='1278329' first='Aidan' last='Rice'], DENY (2024 Beaverton) - It was Rice's first tournament with DENY - he had even hardly practiced with the team due to baseball commitments - but the rising senior guard is the type of player that can fit into any system. He was on fire from three-point range and also got a number of hoops in transition, all while playing unselfishly as we've come to expect out of him.

[player_tooltip player_id='1110914' first='Carter' last='Fortune'], OBC (2024 Southridge) - In a pool play win, Fortune simply couldn't miss as he confidently and effortlessly hit seven threes with pinpoint accuracy - and it's still amazing to us to think how he rarely shot anything from the outside two years ago. The lead guard didn't just bomb away as he also looked to get to the hoop and either score or find open teammates.

[player_tooltip player_id='1583459' first='Andre' last='Niko'], Dynasty (2024 The Dalles) - As big a guy as he is, Niko is extremely light on his feet and that was a lethal combination for Dynasty during the weekend. The rising senior was a tough matchup inside but also ran the floor extremely well, made some plays off the dribble, and showed off is underrated passing ability.

[player_tooltip player_id='1197477' first='Max' last='Elmgren'], Dynasty (2024 Beaverton) - Elmgren has settled into a main scoring role with Dynasty, launching daggers off the catch-and-shoot as well as the one or two dribble lefty pullup. He was on target in the action that we saw as he helped lead Dynasty to the 17U D1 title game.
