Marquee Hoops Virginia Jumpoff: High-Level 17u Standouts (Part 3)

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>High-level prospects filled up Boo Williams Sportsplex this past weekend for Marquee Hoops Virginia Jumpoff. With College coaches in attendance from big name schools including Boston University, Long Island University, and La Salle University. These electrifying 17u athletes did not disappoint. Over the weekend, we were able to see high-level playmaking, shooting, and defense. On the offensive end, Stamn operated as an off-ball scorer, but was able to make some good reads in his reps as the ball handler in pick and rolls. He did a phenomenal job of sliding his feet to contain ball handlers and not allowing any driving angles. Standing at 6-foot-4, Johnson has the positional size that coaches dream of, paired with his guard skills. Johnson has a quick change of direction with the ball and the ability to stop on a dime from going full speed. These tools make it extremely difficult for opposing defenses to contain him. He was able to be used as a screener at times. Johnson set the firm screen and waited patiently to roll into open space. On defense, Freeman operated with a high motor and good defensive awareness. He did a good job of sticking in arm-length distance of ball handlers, leaving them with limited options to score or make a play. On the offensive end, Freeman was able to show his consistent shooting stroke over the contests of defenders. Freeman shoots three-pointers with confidence off the catch, off the dribble, or off the move.
