I watched many of the local teams and noticed a few AZ players from out of state teams as well.
Here were the 16U AZ Standouts
Braden Moore Braden Moore 6'3" | PG Lee County | 2025 State GA Yuma Catholic (AZ Select 16 UAA)
A pure point guard has a nice first step and speed to burst to the basket and will score thru contact with his stronger frame. He elevates on his jumpers from mid-range and can hit the three. The small school point guard keeps improving as he is getting used to the speed of the game with the faster style of play then in his area.
Ryan Burbach Ryan Burbach 6'3" | SG Brophy Prep | 2025 State AZ Brophy Prep (AZ Select 16 UAA)
A very long and quick three point shooter. He squares up like you should and takes long strides to the rim. He is a very good rebounder who uses his long arms and size for position to stick his nose in there. He has picture perfect form and gets high elevation on his shot and stays balanced throughout his attempts. He is sneaky athletic and looks to not be done growing. One of the early stock risers from the ‘25 class locally.
Carlos Coronado Jr Carlos Coronado Jr 6'3" | PG Supreme Academy | 2025 State AZ Coolidge (AZ Unity 16 EYBL)
An athletic scoring point guard. He is dunking it now and will finish thru contact despite his thinner frame. He can shoot it from mid to the three point line and finds teammates with advanced court vision. He has legit size, athleticism and feel for the game and is easily one of the top soph point guards in the class from AZ. He is another guard whose stock is up.
Jayce McGuirk Jayce McGuirk 6'2" | CG Phhoenix Prep | 2025 State AZ Phhoenix Prep (AZ Select 16 UAA)
A high IQ combo guard with a good sense of awareness on the court. He is a catch three type but pulled up a couple times off the dribble as well. He moves the ball like you should but is more of a traditional combo playing on or off the ball. What stood out to me was his ability to crash the glass with a plus motor to rebound with some improved athleticism and is not afraid to take charges.
Alexander Werner Alexander Werner 6'4" | SF Premier Prep Tucson Academy | 2025 State AZ Phhoenix Prep (AZ Select 16 UAA) (Pictured)
A jack of all trades type of wing forward defends multiple positions and brings his hard hat to the court. He loves getting downhill and scores thru contact. He has an endless motor to rebound in and out of his area and makes good passes to teammates. He does many little things to help a team win without high scoring outings.
Nathan Wanjohi Nathan Wanjohi 6'6" | PF Phhoenix Prep | 2024 AZ Phhoenix Prep (AZ Select 16 UAA)
A long forward has grown an inch and has become way stronger in the last year. He is very active around the basket and will gobble up rebounds and plays with an endless motor. He scores it mostly around the rim with put backs and contested layups with his long arms and strength.
Jackson Woolley Jackson Woolley 6'3" | CG Mesa Mountain View | 2025 State AZ Mesa Mountain View (Mountain Stars 16)
An intelligent scoring guard can catch and shoot from the three point line and defend. He moves the ball and plays hard. I luckily saw him play versus a local Arizona team and he definitely held his own. His ability to play long on defense and make perimeter shots will make him a possible go-to player for the Toros after many of their talented seniors graduated.
Ayden Madi Ayden Madi 6'4" | SG Brophy Prep | 2025 State AZ Brophy Prep (UH Elite 16 UAA Rise)
A scoring guard/wing with some grit. He can play and defend multiple positions with his toughness and he makes shots. He can hit the catch three and score inside amidst heavy traffic. He takes contact well and always seems to show off his talents on the court.
Zaire Richardson Zaire Richardson 5'11" | CG San Tan Charter | 2025 State AZ San Tan Charter (UH Elite 16 UAA Rise)
An extremely quick guard flies in the open court. He gets a step on you and will finish at the rim in traffic. He has real blow by speed and has body control in the paint. He is a good passer and he is an unselfish facilitator. Stock up.
Cezer Sotomayor Cezer Sotomayor 6'1" | CG ALA Gilbert North | 2025 State AZ Chandler (UH Elite 16 UAA Rise)
A combo guard with a high feel for the game. He will drive and kick and seems to always make the correct read. He can hit the three off the catch, post up surprisingly well with his left or right hand and drive it. He always plays within the flow of the offense and he is like a coach on the floor.
Andrew Bhesania Andrew Bhesania 6'8" | PF Boulder Creek | 2025 State #348 Nation AZ Boulder Creek (AZ Select 16 UAA)
A fluid face-up four-man was firing away all weekend long. He is very comfortable scoring around the rim with strong hands and can fall away in the post, pull-up off the dribble from mid and is money with the trail three. He has the unique ability to take the ball off the glass and drive it and make a play for a teammate. He can also score on offensive rebound put backs and goes up quickly. He picked up recent offers from NAU, Nevada, NIU and Santa Barbara.
