Pitt Jamfest Standouts (Part 3)

One of the oldest live period events in the country took place this past weekend, as Hoop Group put on their annual Pitt Jamfest. As always, the event was loaded with teams and prospects from all over the country, and the baselines were packed with college coaches from all over the country as well.   We'll be breaking down some of the standouts from all over the Prep Hoops Networks, looking here at part 3 of some of the prospects from teams from the DMV.   [player_tooltip player_id='1579095' first='Tremayne' last='Hawkins'] | 6'7” PF | Truth DC 17U   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/04/Hawkins-Treymanne.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/04/Hawkins-Treymanne.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-1938057" /></a></figure>   Hawkins was fantastic for a Truth team that was full of talent and made their way to the Final Four before losing to Team Loaded 757. The 6'7” forward showed a lot of versatility as he finished above the rim effortlessly, he rebounded well on both ends of the floor and he showed good ball skills on the perimeter with the way he put it on the deck and made shots. The Grace Bretheren forward was so good he picked up an offer from LIU over the weekend.   [player_tooltip player_id='1747937' first='Jaden' last='Johnson'] | 6'2” PG | Truth DC 17U   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2022/10/Johnson-Jaden-scaled.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2022/10/Johnson-Jaden-scaled.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-1616024" /></a></figure>   Johnson has been a very good player throughout high school but injuries derailed him over the last few years, but he looked close to healthy and was back to his old ways. The 6'2” guard is a nightmare to deal with off the bounce as he is shifty and quick, gets downhill effortlessly and he has a mix of strength and body control to finish in the paint. He set the tone defensively for them and got others involved as well.   [player_tooltip player_id='1225260' first='Scottie' last='Hubbard'] | 6'6” WF | Truth DC 17U   Hubbard may be the most intriguing long term prospect on this Truth team, as the 6'6” wing has so much upside moving forward. He checks all the boxes with his physical tools and is a good athlete too, he made shots from deep and in the midrange and he made plays defensively getting deflections and challenging shots on the perimeter. He is a talented player who is looking like he's getting more consistent on both ends, and division one schools should be looking at him this summer.   [player_tooltip player_id='1261987' first='Quin' last='Gorman'] | 6'8” PF | Team AKT 17U   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2021/10/Gorman-Quinn.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2021/10/Gorman-Quinn.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-1315798" /></a></figure>   Gorman has been one of the more underrated prospects in the DMV, and the Flint Hill forward had a great showing at Pitt Jamfest this weekend. The 6'8” forward showed his versatility as he ran the floor and was effective as a rim runner, he showed his perimeter skillset as a shooter and he rebounded well too. He was a walking double-double who showed good instincts and versatility defensively too.   [player_tooltip player_id='1489103' first='Grant' last='Polk'] | 6'6” F | Nova Cavs 17U   Polk is another highly underrated and under recruited player in the DMV, as the Gainesville forward continues to get better and was highly productive this weekend. The 6'6” forward is a walking mismatch with strength to guard and rebound in the paint and a big time perimeter skillset that allows him to play different positions. He shot the ball very well from deep as he always does, he ran and finished in transition and he made winning plays for his team.   Javon Brooks | 6'2” CG | Team Richmond 17U   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/04/Brooks-Javon.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/04/Brooks-Javon.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-1906097" /></a></figure>   Brooks showed flashes at the CBG Tip-Off, and it looks like they're going to look to him more and more to be the focal point of their offense this summer. The 6'2” combo is an all-around guard offensively who can play with it in his hands and touch the paint where he's a good playmaker, he can finish through contact and he can make shots from multiple levels too. He knows the game and makes it look easy, and he competes on both ends of the floor too.   Kevin Lucas | 6'0” PG | Team Richmond 17U   The Manchester point guard is one of the more underrated players in the RVA, and he showed that this weekend with Team Richmond as he was one of their more consistent players. He's a good ball handler who handles pressure and gets them into sets and he's an unselfish playmaker who can touch the paint. He really shines with his shooting ability, as he can knock down shots from deep both on and off the ball and he has effortless range out to the NBA line.
